Anyone used the Silverstone NT01?

I am thinking about using this for my C2D 6300 in my new case design. I have a pair of really quiet 60mm fans and I figured it would not stick up more than the video card (I want the case to be as Lo-Profile as possible)

I have a bunch of H20 Stuff as well but since crossflow worked so well with just the 2 fans this would be really simple to use.

Any thoughts?

You looked at the HSFs specificly for low profile machines?

IMO they look kinda rubbish but they are designed with low-profile, low noise in mind. Not performance.

I think one of the reasons that Crossflow was so effecient was because I designed the comp around airflow...

In the new comp the mobo will be lying flat and air will be blowing across it. The Heat pipes will work better because the tubes will be sticking up and heat rises, instead of if you put the mobo like a regular case where the heatpipes would be sticking out the side.

I want the cooler to stick up be no higher than the Video card( either a HIS X1900XT or a 8800GTS)

I dont OC at the bleeding edge so ultimate performance is not required, but it has to work well with the design of the case.

And I like to be different too...:D

Did you take a look at the reviews that I have posted?

Thanks Spiritd I had seen the first before but not the other 2. The one I was looking at is the Rev2 (reviews are the rev1).

I really liked that the fins are soldered (most others arent)..

Reps to u..:)

Hmm i'll take a look for the Rev2 reviews if I can find them!

Thanks Kempez and SpiritD,

The main reason for the 01 is the fins are soldered to the tubes, I havent seen another cooler that high quality. I like the 03/02 but the 01 has the option for 4 fans, bigger fans and I think it adds to the uncluttered look onside the case.

The NT01 looks like a high quality cooler, I think I'd definately give it a shot. The construction looks second to none.

Thanks WC, I went through the reviews. There is NO WAY I would run it without fans though.

My thoughts are about air flow which in my case should be a stream of air about 2 to 3" above the surface of the mobo across it. That would suck the warm air off the mobo and memory through the Silverstone and out the right side without too much turbulance.

I also have a Zalman AM2 that I can adapt to fit the C2D if I need it.

My thinking on cooling is the shortest straightest path with the least resistance makes the most efficient cooling.
