Any users of twinned/paired nics ?

Would like some insight on the goodness or waste-of-time-age.

Got a good number of Intel X mobos with double onboard nics, or for that matter are any type of nic permittable with another. Like onboard and a single gig nic.

Well the new OC3D server is going to be using quad nics ;) I went that way for a number of reasons:

1. If one nic fails the other can continue go provide net access

2. If you've got a LOT of traffic then load balancing the nics has the potential to double what you can cope with.

3. If you have several switches in your environment then using one nic per switch reduces the chance of you going offline if a switch dies.

As it goes, I have a few Belkin 4-Port network cards i was about to list on FS&W. If you're interested before I do, drop me a PM :)

I have a stack of gigabit edimax cards 'on the shelf' atm, so experimental wize I got plenty to have a bash with.

Gonna do some googleage, but is it a pita to set this up ? In the back of my head I'm thinking the OS is gonna see 1 point, whilst behind the point u have multiple cards.
