Antec 300 Revision?

So my mate (NTXlaser) purchased an Antec 300 for a build he's currently working on for his dad and noticed something different about this particular 300... apparantly it now features a CPU backplate cutout!

To me it looks a lot like the cutout of the Antec 200..

My apologies for the image quality, they are simply some quick shots my mate made with his HTC HD2.

However, the point is... I've never seen this feature on a factory Antec 300 before..

The Antec website doesn't mention it and on their pictures it doesn't have a CPU backplate cutout...

Oh and if you're interested in what the final specs will be...

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

MB: Asus P5Q Pro

Mem: 4GB GeiL DDR2-800

GPU: ATi 5670

PSU: Be Quiet! 530w

HDD: 2x 500GB Samsung Spinpoint F3 RAID1

Case: Antec 300

CPU cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems

Any thoughts?:D

Who would have put it there?

My mate ordered it from one of the biggest and best shops from the Netherlands.

Also, have a look at this thread.. Several people are reporting the same thing. One of them says he got his at Newegg, which is an entirely different shop than the one my mate got it from and one of them even claims that he has seen several 1200's come with a cutout aswell.

Perhaps Antec have added a cutout to all of their cases now? It would certainly be a nice feature!

Aye, cut-outs seem to be pretty commonplace these days, so to not have one is a big boo boo by manufacturers, would make sense for them to have updated it really!
