Hi there guys!

Just wanted to tell you all that I have just started to fold. I am a total newbie when it comes to folding, but the idea of helping people and getting involved with Science just got me. I am going to be folding on this rig for now Click.... I am going to start overclocking my 2500K once the rig is completely finished. ("only" running at 4.0GHz right now)

Hoping to help the Redline@OC3D team with what I have.

Cheers,

Aurus

Oh and please don't slap me for asking stupid question, which I probably will

Awesome, welcome to the team! That rig should do pretty well for folding. You will be able to fold on the GPU and CPU. GPU tracker is the easiest way to get started. There is a sticky in the guides section.

Feel free to ask any questions. Most aren't stupid

. Again, welcome!

Thanks for the welcome guys

I've got GPU3 running on the 570 right now. It has completed one WU and has gotten 1348 points (I don't know what that has to say, but o well I will see

). I have SMP installed for my 2500K but it's still stressing only one core. It is about to finish one WU, so I will see if it will use all 4 cores in the next one.

EDIT: Oh and my 570 is at stock, if that makes a big difference

For smp you need to add the -smp flag to your folding at home shortcut for the 2500k. If it's only stressing one core, it's not working as it should. Stop the client and add the flag, then restart the client. Your points will be greatly increased.

Now that I have done that it works! Thanks mate

It is a lot of fun to watch my system being pushed to it's limit for a good cause. About to finish my second WU.

Alright I got my first two questions to ask

What are the advantages of GPU Tracker, will it deliver better PPD than SMP and GPU3 or is it just more convenient? I have heard many people talk about that program.

How many points can I expect from my 2500K per advmethods WU? I really don't have any way to compare if my results fall into the correct place, or if they are off. If they are off, what would be some ways to optimize the points I am getting?

Thanks for the help in advance

EDIT: I have installed GPU-Tracker right now and it looks like a great little easy to use program.

It's just easier to use. Pretty much the same PPD. GPU will slow down your CPU as you have ATi. If it was nVidia you could run both.
