Announcement: Bad Language

This has been raised before - but we are lead by example. If Tom swears in his vids & posts then that sets the tone. You need to sort out your own house before you start hammering others for it....
Actually Tom has stopped swearing in his latest videos...

To be honest this is true, if a more professional look is what we're aiming for then the owner himself needs to stop it. Saying that, I do feel we could bring the swearing back a bit, I do it, whilst I mean no harm by it I guess its offensive to some.

But I don't want to go "Sh**" in a thread and forget about this at the time and then I get a PM or a ban. Mistakes happen.

In the nicest possible way Shaun.

You've had your fun with the gifs and image posts. I think that's enough now. It's verging on the edge of shitposting now dude. Please stop

Mods say don't swear, mod swears. Makes sense...

So I can't post images now either?

Maybe that's the point, I'm sure swearing wasn't allowed on the forums in the past, correct me if I'm wrong.

Time to have a change as the swearing is getting a little stupid. I think Tom has already noticed and is already correcting himself.

By the way, does "tone down" mean keep swearing to a minimum or not at all?

It means avoid it, if people post the occasional "shit" then we're not going to prosecute you but we will make you aware of these new rules. If you carry on then we'll have to take more action.

Alright then. I'm not really happy with these new rules, as OC3D always seemed to be so tolerant, but fine. I don't swear much on the forums anyway ;)

But I never swear at anyone? I don't think any of us do, because thats obviously wrong.

New rules are confusing.

You were complaining because I said 'shitposting'. I explained that it's just calling it what it is.

I don't think there's anything that isn't clear

I guess what Shaun is saying is that the new rules don't exactly make sense as nobody really swears at anyone else. These "bad words" are usually just used to describe something and typically in a positive way. Unless I've missed some heated argument of course

Yes, and I'm not accusing Shaun of doing that :)

It's more for clarification as it used to be very strict in the forums, despite Tom's language in videos, it got slacked off a bit and regular posters started cursing a lot more, warnings were sent, and ignored so.. the belt has been re-tightened and the rules clarified to make it easier for the mods to enforce. The rules were slightly more 'wooly' before meaning it was hard to really enforce for the mods. This, should no longer be the case.

Thats what I meant.

Oh well, back to those days again it seems.

Ah alright. I didn't really know about how everything was before as I only came here fairly recently. Seems fair enough though

Glad to clarify :) It's better this way, it's clean and clear and will make the forums more mature again.

That's fine :) The forums changes and evolves a lot of the years! It used to be ultra strict!! I think I got a warn and temp ban waaaaaaaay back when I first got here for swearing. I was happy when it eased off initially, and I'll freely admit I swear a lot (and a lot in RL) but I think this place is far better without it in all honesty :)

The rules are cool, I don't mind but I may accidentally slip up at times as this thread gets a bit older just please don't kill us if we do, only if its a constant thing. :P
