That CPU can score some results!

The 3930K we have is kind of an amazing one. Not all of the Sandy Bridge-E chips can even do 5GHz, nevermind at such a low voltage as 1.408V

"4.8GHz was the minimum we had hoped to get from the processor and around the 5GHz mark would've been what we really liked to see. We started at 5GHz by moving straight to a 50x multiplier and adjusting our voltages. While we managed to get into Windows we couldn't do much else. At this setting the system froze after idling for about a minute.

By the way I did some cable tiding today. I will have an update later on but I'm playing some Max Payne 3 right now actually.

New video and update coming tomorrow // I'm finished uploading my old videos, so now I will start making and uploading new videos at a regular pace. Also, here is a fun old one of what my computer used to looked like when it was built up in a ragged old HAF 832.

Yeah I agree, it is an amazing one the one you have. the majority of CPU's don't go as high as that. I saw an FX-4100 go 5000MHz once... but most don't. I tried paying BF3 again today and some updates started using my HDD which made my game unplayable. I have also went to ultra again with AA 4X and it did quite well.. I don't understand these drivers... I think that if I had a better CPU it could probably do better and if I had a faster HDD it could play smoothly. But I am chasing ghosts here, it won't get any better than this with the hardware I have so...

yeah i dont know what percentage do what clock speeds but when tom reviewed the 3930K he needed 1.46V for 5ghz on the ES chip he had. his new orca system is running the 3970X at 5ghz with the custom water loop he made.

If you're just looking to play bf3 smoothly for the sake of gameplay have you tried lowering settings, turning off AA and stuff like that?

Yes I have tried reducing everything, all on low settings, it's nice, smooth but it's also smooth on auto, .. even high. I am trying to figure out this stuttering thing and if it's my HDD that's causing it. Seems that whenever I go on higher settings and the texture quality increases the more stuttering I get... When I say stuttering it's not what probably most people have in mind... it sometimes freezes up to a couple of seconds as the HDD loads... just sucks that I can't afford a proper one right now or in the near future.

Turning AA off completely gives me smooth gameplay even on Ultra.

Later this evening I'm also going to be doing a build log for my old 2006-2007 system build into a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream. I think there must have been about 30 or 40 different configurations I did in that, all terrible, but it's fun to have a look back. There will be loads of pictures and it should be a bit of fun.

This is more of a 'mid cable tidy' update as i'm sure i am going to have another look at the cables and do them better.

Also I'm getting really sick of this 650D to be perfectly honest.

Here are all the unused cables at the top of the case near the front IO that i tidied up a bit. the yellow ties were just because i didn't have black ones left at the time, but you can't even see any of that anyway so its not a big deal. i might change them to black ones.

You can see how scuff prone the finish of the 650D is in this picture.

if you look up at the roof from a low location you can kind of see this if it's bright even, but you really have to try to get a look at it. most of the time you don't see it at all. i know it's not the prettiest but whatever i'm not that fussed about it for now.

The interior looks pretty good

The motherboard tray area not as much. I am most likely going to go over this again and do it better.

here's what it looked like when i was sorting that front panel stuff out before i zipped it all up.

I have had the back panel far more tidy than any of these pictures in the past, but it just sort of degenerated over time as I changed stuff around a lot.

Here is a picture of it back in November when the X58 hardware was still in the case. I am happy with this level of tiding but I didn't have those horrible USB3 cables to deal with then and it just seemed to flow better. I just need to take another look at it and spend some time and I can get it as tidy as that again I'm sure.

do they not have a sleeved kit for the 760i yet?

not sure what im going to do with the cables in this case - i'm fairly sick of the 650D already to be honest. i might not fuss about them too much for the time being.

i don't think they've released them yet.
i don't mind braiding them myself :)
