Well I'm impressed. If comparing it to the 580 then I think the water is being clouded somewhat. The comparing the AMD 7 series against the Nvidia 5 series whilst valid in the "it's a graphics card" context would be akin to comparing a BMW M5 to the Jag S/XF range. The M5 was the market leader the xfr did some things better, the new M5 then regained the crown, but the performance jump between the S and the XF was considerable. Think the same applies here to an extent, yes it hasn't hammered the 580, but the 580 had a good lead over the 6 series anyway. Comparing the 7 against the 6 and seeing 50% gains in the games we are playing at the resolutions we are playing them at surely can't be described as a failure. They've done exactly what they needed to, which was produce a single chip solution which provides better performance across the board than it's competitor and a good chunk of improvement over their own previous product.
