I'm quite looking forward to these, only issue i've got is resisting buying lots of things around that point, as a certain company dumps slightly over a £1000 in my bank account the day before >.<

"AMD Pulls Radeon HD 7970 Launch to December 22

In a surprising move, AMD pulled the launch date of Radeon HD 7970, a high-performance single-GPU graphics card based on the 28 nm Tahiti silicon, up to December 22, 2011; from its earlier launch date of January 09, 2012. The January date was a lot more than speculation, as older presentation slides from AMD to distributors and retailers talked specifically about it. The move to pull December 22 (next Thursday) spices things up in the run up for CES. First, it gives AIB partners full freedom to show off their custom-design graphics cards at the event, along with full details about GPU specifications and clock speeds.

According to a VR-Zone report, Radeon HD 7970 will launch on December 22, 2011, this will be the day you will be able to read reviews of the card (at least the AMD reference design board), online. It will be a limited launch (read: paper-launch), but one can expect "full" retail availability of the card by January 09. Another interesting bit of information is concerning the Radeon HD 7950. This card will be available in non-reference board designs from day one, it will however launch on January 09."

Don't forget this is a reference design, there will be the usual Gigabyte Windforce, MSI Twin FrozR and Asus DCUII versions etc later on with much better fans and factory overclocks.

Thats true, i would probably have two 7970 in crossfire, just need proper benchmarks now

I had a reference 6950 and the noise was unbearable. I liked the performance, as I run 3 screens and only play the occasional game. I sold the reference card and bought an MSI TF3 6950. The cooler makes a huge difference. At idle it runs 10C cooler and with a good fan profile is pretty much silent.

I will never buy an AMD card with a reference cooler again - the leaf blowers are terrible. Even if you were to use a case like the SG07, I would still get a non reference card.

Slide looks fake "superior gaming power" sounds a bit unprofessional.

There might be some truth in the results though, reviews are set for Thursday and because of different timezones we might see ones from other countries on Wednesday. Most likely there will be more leaked benches floating around from today onwards, whether they are true or not though we will have to wait and see, not long to wait now though.

Some websites indicate that the HD 7970 is referenced to 573 euros.

The online store Comcom.nl will have sold it since then withdrawn.

Asus HD 7970 with 3GB of DDR5, one DVI, one HDMI and two mini DisplayPort output.

Fairly expensive for an AMD I think.

Info found here.

They wont be cheap but I doubt they will be that much, retailers always charge more pre-release, price will come down after it's been officially released on well known retailers sites.

Plus when it is released it will be the fastest single card so AMD will most likely charge extra because of that. There will be no card competing against it so they will charge a premium for it the same as Nvidia does with the 580 now.

Don't know how legit these are but they are all from the same place. Also take note most of these benches are done at 2500x1600 and not 1920x1080 so they don't really give a result of what the average performance would be for the average user as not many people game at 2500x1600 and 1920x1080/1200 is the norm.

I can only understand general interactions, and not very well. but from what i understood from his light expressions the card lives up to leaked reviews.

That review translated into English would have taken about 3 mins, lol.
