And the Release Date for AMD Radeon HD 7900 is

I am not a AMD fanboy or a Nvidia fanboy I buy what ever offers me the best performance for the money I can afford. Also, as mentioned before AMD's GPU department is separate to their CPU department.

I don't know why people have this delusion that Nvida are some sort of superior company because before the 5 series they did quite bad.

Take a look at the benches below but remember that some of the games are Nvidia optimized.

Also remember that a 6970 costs around £250 and a 580 costs about £350 for a decent one so also take that into consideration when looking at the performance. The AMD cards do run a bit hotter and louder but they still perform and price to performance wise they are the bang for your buck.

As I said before I am not a AMD or a Nvidia fanboy and when kelper comes I will be just as excited as I am for the AMD 7 series and whoever wins, wins, but i'm not gonna let fanboyism cloud my judgment.

might be worth selling both my 6870's and going for 1 7970 if those results are correct. selling both my cards would put me in a significantly better position to buy a 7970

Even AMD are not stupid enough to make them this good as they would lose out on their 6990

Just thinking from a marketing point of view

Yeah but they will just release a 7990 leter on. and people wills till buy them. When you order components, by the time you have filled in your bank card details the hardware is out of date.

But i do agree that those performance figures do seem extream. only time i can think of a jump that big in performance from one series to the next. was when Nvidia released the 8800GTX.

in some cases even before it is released to us

got to remember that this years top consumer CPU was last years Top Enterprise CPU if you get what i mean

Found the leaked slide he mentioned, someone posted a link to this guys blog on Aria last week, it doesn't seem very legit and this guy has no real credibility. Not saying he is lying or anything but until I see it from a trustworthy source i'm not taking his word for it.

And these are the specs that we had earlier

4.50 billion transistors, die-area of 380 mm², built on TSMC 28 nm process

Advanced GCN 1D architecture

2048 1D processing cores

128 TMUs, 48 ROPs

384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, memory clock slightly below 1 GHz, target bandwidth of 240~264 GB/s

Cool ideas.

Just an opinion, I'm quite convinced AMD wont (maby ever..) be as stable as nVidia so I'm quite unwilling to buy AMD GPU's, bit sad really. I think nVidia look superior because they invented the GPU and their drivers are very good and I'm very happy with my 480's, they've been improved alot and nearly 2 years old, nearly 4 billion transistors that are the fastest in gaming today, their transistors are faster than GTX 580 transistors I've learned. I wouldn't change for 6970's and I'm rarely OC'ing. I feel a bit of brag though I think nVidia snuffed out the bullsh@t rather well pulling the 480 onto its feet, but worry not eh!

Sorry I'm a bit paranoid about AMD

Yep, i've done some checking around and apparently the specs are wrong and the amount of rops can't be right, also Embargo at the bottom of the pic is spelled wrong "Embago"

I've been reading a couple of threads about it here

from the bottom of the page linked onwards here

I'm sure there are other threads on other sites talking about it as well.
