AMD's K10 All Its Cracked Up To Be?

Lets see almost a full gig faster and faster ram too. Not quite fair eh? Ill wait till the real chips and benchies come out.

Which is what I alluded to in the news article. :)

It's bound to be neck and neck clock for clock and the same speed RAM.... I think Barcelona will be awesome myself.

Let`s take a G80 clocked @ 450 and compare it to a 610 ??

These people bench for the sake of it, or did they expect it to beat it with lower odds ?

Yorkfield is gonna kick some AMD ass. :D

The sad thing is that Core micro-architecture will soon die (Will be replaced by Nehalem), and K10 will still be around. :p

AMD are so f**ked.

We all know you aren't biased too. I do see your point though.

I've seen it with my own two eyes.

Yorkfield is WAY better than existing quads, and K10 doesn't seem to.

And as I mentioned before, K10 will also face the next micro-architecture - Nehalem (Core vs Nehalem is like Netburst vs Core on steroids, cause it has a uniqe way of processing).

So let me say it again, AMD are so f**ked. :p

It's not that I have anything against AMD (I'm actually a huge AMD fan), but I love laughing at loosers. :D

it does look like AMD has regressed to its AthlonXP days:

by this i mean that they make a really good chip after awhile and it keeps the crown for some time (XP vs PIII, early P4s). But then intel do their thing and leave them in the distant past (Prescott P4s). I really really hope that AMD have another Athlon64 up their sleeves but i sincerely doubt it. The only thing I think that CAN potentially make a difference is if they make a more efficient CPU with comparable performance - ie similar at similar stocks but with say 25-50% less power requirements.

However, i do not see that happening. Intel is doing an Nvidia - hitting them hard while they are down.

hmm it did get its ass handed to it on a platter kinda but i am gonna wait for them to be released and then wait for the proper benchies.

I for one hope that K10 will at least be competitive, not only because I'm quite the AMD fanboy but also simply to provice a nice pick up of competition between them and Intel. I realize prices are dropping like flies lately anyway, but if it's feirce competition they drop even faster, and products are released earlier.

We'll have to see how it plays out, but I sure hope it's better than C2D even, though I did by an e6600 a few months ago and still haven't upgraded, would suck if it were to come out and trounce C2D

if there was no competition with intel then intel would put its prices up meaning that we would be worse off so i hope that they pull it together

Yup, and they would output new processors at an extremely slow rate, if at all. Competition is always good for the consumer.

By the time the Prescott 775 P4s where out AMD was pwning with the A64 already S754.
