The other issue AMD is faced with is resources: money aside, Intel has them, and AMD doesn't. A stronger work force, better manufacturing facilities, better selection of global partners... AMD just doesn't have it like that. Kudos to Intel for cementing themselves so well into this industry, but AMD can't fail. Now what WOULD be good is if the performance of their APUs became such that their other stand-alone processors wound up not needing to exist anymore, or that once they can incorporate a die shrink that they can still HAVE 6+ core processors that also run integrated graphics... again, this is something that they simply do not have the resources to manage just yet, but I see that happening at some point in time since that would set them on better footing to offer a product that could better compete alongside Intel at the lower end of the spectrum. Leave the iGPU-less processing for the likes of their Opteron line for business servers and the like. This way, a user could ALSO take better advantage of software solution like Lucid Logix Virtu, which could potentially net better overall system performance AND reduce power consumption, something that is desperately needed by AMD on account of people living in countries where their products are sold that charge a chip of your soul and your first-born a month for electricity.
