AMD have Officially announced their Radeon R7 series SSD. Made using Toshiba 19nm MLC NAND and OCZ's Barefoot 3 M00 controller, I wonder how they will perform.

So these are just OCZ drives?

Sounds very much like how Corsair have jumped on every bandwagon in the last few years.

needed merged

amd needs to make fans wich will be the only fans that make heat

No they do not need to make fans! I'm imagining the puns now.

"You could say I'm a FAN of AMD"

"you are such an AMD FANboy"

I already hear enough of those when Noctua do something!

Yes and NO, OCZ controller but some good reliable Toshiba Flash. So OCZ with a lot of their problems taken out.

It's Noctua-Fault

Good news find, these should be pretty tasty drives with Tosh at the helm.

Woad! Didn't see that coming! If they come out with motherboards then us AMD fanboys 'll be able to have a full AMD system :dribble::dribble::dribble:

EDIT:
And for the 120GB drive the reads/writes are actually pretty damn good considering that most other companies leave the lover capacity drives with around half the write speeds of the ~500GB drives counterparts

errrr, you do know that Tosh own OCZ right?(seeing as OCZ went into meltdown a while ago)they are keeping the OCZ name due to the fact they are well known(kind of a bad idea imo),either way I was right in what I posted, these are just normal drives, nothing special.

I think I will wait to see real world testing etc before I go and get some of these. I am aiming for a fully black/red system and these have the looks to go in. Otherwise I will stick to the Corsair drives (A few years now and going strong on my 120GB GT)

they kept the name but will not honour any waranty that was made by the original ocz.. and i think thats a really bad idea.
i wont buy a ocz drive now because im not that up to date on which drives were made pre and post sale.
so i dont want to buy a ssd from a shop. 6 months later it dies and i send it to ocz and they say "sorry we dont do the fixing on this stuff"

i guess at least now if they are labeled amd drives. i dont have to worry about the warranty though so thats a plus point.

its a shame ocz went down how they did though. didnt need much to fix the issue with the ssd's and a bit more CQ could have prevented any issues ever happening.
But once you have a whole boat full of bad drives then its pretty hard to fix them all and make enough money..

kind of makes me think of the Hitachi death star drives

Cool find. I wont trust anything to do with OCZ though, no matter how reliable they may be. Typo in the first sentence, btw "Rsdeon"

Yes I do know that, I'm just saying that a lot of OCZ's problems were with the flash they used, it was cheap, nasty and caused a lot of failures.

In the end OCZ was hoping volume of sales would save them, but that only resulted in more RMAs and more losses. With good Toshiba flash, these drives should be quite reliable.

Now they rebranding OCZ/Toshiba SSD drives and give 1 year additional warranty compared to "original" products, and they did some optimalization on them. I like the idea to use OCZ-s techs, they made good SSD-s. Toshiba will give a financial back to them.

As I know Vertex 4 and Vector series has the original 3 year warranties, older products like Vertex 3, Agility series have only 1 year warranty after Toshiba's acquisition. The new products has also 3 year warranties. PCI-e SSD-s like REVO series also has the original warranties.

I had in past OCZ Vertex 2 then Vertex 4 and Vector 450. I really like them.

Door is over there please close it on the way out ------>

Seriously guys, Toshiba SSDs are really solid pieces of kit. Apple use them for example (or atleast they did) as do certain other companies. If they are a decent price then they'll be neat.

I had never problems with OCZ SSD-s. I had an RMA after 2 and a half year with Vertex 2 60GB (I forced it to fail... :) ) and they give me a Vertex 4 120GB back...:D But surely i just have positive experience with them.

One of my friends useing a REVO drive 2 100GB PCI-e ×4 card about 3 years and it still working fine without any error.

I know there where problems with Agility and Vertex 2 and 3 series but they were solved with a new firmware.

I tried since then ADATA SP900 Pro and SP600, Corsair Neutron GT and Samsung 840 series SSD-s and I did not find too much difference in real life performance. I know there are performance difference between them but they are almost impercaptable for everyday user. :)

I think you were lucky with your drives then ;) and they won't have a perceivable (I think that what you meant to say) difference in performance, just longevity.

But why take that chance with OCZ/Toshiba when one could get a surely reliable Samsung drive (for example)? To me, its not worth the risk.
