amd hd 8000 series

will that be in Q2 of this year tho do you think as i am trying to wait for them

I don't know when they release but I'm sure it will before the end of Q2. If it gets delayed more than that and Nvidia has already released it'll be a disaster for AMD if the rumors for Nvidia % increases turn out to be true.

Nvidia are releasing the full on Kepler arch, so if the percentages hold true, god help AMD at this time...

A refresh will not come close sadly.

so you think nvidia will be the ones to go for this time round?does anyone have any links to the specs of there new cards an release dates?

Ok just read another thread saying nvidia700 series are basicly gonna just be a slightly better version of the 600 series, an that 2014 is hoing to be when they bring out ther new gpu designs

A fairly lengthy report has emerged regarding the next generation of graphics cards that NVIDIA is preparing, a group that promises a good increase in cost-performance ratio, among other things.

One of the things we have noticed about the information published by 3DCenter.org is that it clashes with data we have previously encountered.

Less than a week ago, it was said that the GeForce GTX 780, the flagship Kepler model that would replace the GeForce GTX 680, would use the GK114 GPU, not the GK110.

Before that, a different source said, similarly, that the card would use a different chip than the GK110.

Now, though, 3DCenter.org states that the GK110 will indeed power the GeForce GTX 780, with its 2888 CUDA cores, 7.1 billion transistors and 384-bit GDDR5 interface.

Compared to GTX 680, performance will supposedly be 40-55% higher, even as the price remains the same ($499-599 / 499-599 Euro). A far cry from the 15% rise that AMD's Sea Islands GPUs will have compared to HD 7000.

The GK114 is expected to cover the upper mainstream market, the so-called performance segment, and has the same specifications, more or less, as the GK104. Clock speed modifications will, thus, be the source of whatever performance boon the GPU has over its precursor.

We can't imagine the GTX 760 and 760 Ti debuting without a clear advantage over the GTX 660 and 660 Ti, especially if the claims about GK110 are true.

The last processor in the collection, called GK116, will power the GTX 750 Ti. Like the GK114, it has the same component layout as its forebear, but better frequencies.

All in all, the claims are very ambitious, which makes us wonder if perhaps the previous rumors are actually the true ones. NVIDIA could very well decide to use the GK104 as its top consumer GPU and keep the overpowered GK110 as the chip employed in professional/HPC supercomputing modules (Tesla K20).

This seems pretty accurate by looking at the released K20x Tesla, lets just hope NV choose to use GK110, it is going to be very exciting indeed.

Well that was to be expected really, nothing new has been introduced on the technology market(market doesnt demand it either, crysis 3 might change that).

what i am realistically expecting from the 8000 is that they will be low power consumption/small factor/passive and or itx capable gpu that is both not power hungry and wont hinder the system

Am torn from if i should go for this gen gpus or wait it out from what i have been reading up

yeah that's what i was thinking just got the dilemma of should i go nvidia (who should be releasing theirs sooner), or wait for amd an the summer to roll round choices choices eh.

any input on that matter would be very welcome haha

Well it would be smart to wait to see how the competition turns out, though if you need a performance increase now then options are available:)

I could use the performance but i dont wanna shell out money for something am only going to use for a couple of months, i think i am just going to wait it out to be fair may just put a window in the side pannel of my case. Something to keep me busy anyway haha

Those are OEM cards the 8000 series has yet to be shown off yet probably q2 or q3.. The 7000 were just re-branded for now to please dell and all those other stupid company's so they have something new to sell to fools.

I bet at one point in your life you owned an OEM computer;)
