AMD Hawaii XTX Core confirmed? 3000+ cores!

Yeah but... nvidia is going to release some new Maxwell based chips, which could be really efficient as the 750/750 ti showed. So they can easily outperform the 780Ti with a card that consumes less power and costs less, while AMD (sadly) doesn't have any new architecture ready to be produced

If you think AMD hasn't been working on new architecture then your delusional dude haha, just because they haven't shown it doesn't mean it's not there

This will be same as NVIDIA start to launch GTX780Ti reference on 1200MHz boost.
I see some customer who can't pull 100MHz from Hawaii now, reference card, 1000MHz.
AMD OC Hawaii instead of customers lot, and I'm not against that, only if heat is not problem. Better to manufacturer give me some higher clock in BIOS than me to suffer with Precision and drivers and always testing methods of brands are better than mine
Even now I look for self, R9-290X is not interesting for me without waterblock.
R9-295X special. Koolance make excellent block for R9-295X and than card become very nice. AMD could drop price even less, closer Titan Black, probably is production of R9-295X not far from two R9-290X.
NVIDIA Delay Maxwell because AMD, they launch GK110 10 months before AMD, he was ready maybe even 12-15 months before R9-290X and everything after that they only tweak specification and change BIOS and had space to work on Maxwell until AMD develop Hawaii. Launching GTX480, HD6970, R9-290X heater for me are not good. My card came with fabric OC 200MHz with stock cooler she will be 10C colder than R9-290X I give warranty on that.
Now they could both of them two years to write different BIOS and improve performance of Hawaii and GK110. But no doubt GK110 is stronger chip. More power in today applications can be drained from GK110 even if she is almost year older than Hawaii.

I didn't say "they aren't working in a new architecture" but that they have no new architecture ready to be produced.

It would be STUPID having it ready and not announcing it, because OEMs and private customers ( at least the smart ones ) inform themselves before buying and if nvidia says " ok guys, new chips on september " and AMD says nothing, if someone is going to build a new PC will be prepared to buy nvidia's new product and not a "ninja" AMD chip which came from nowhere ( it's even more important for OEMs, who have to make contracts in advance )

Marketing is important when you are a big company ( and nvidia knows that )

p.s.: no, i'm not an nvidia fanboy, i just want AMD to improve itself in order to get more market share, but looks like it's not really putting effort into it

Don't get too excited about any new Maxwell cards as they are still on 28nm. There has been a lot of speculation about leaked specs for a GTX 880 but after doing the numbers and comparing them to an existing 28nm card (750ti) the specs for the GTX 880 are total rubbish and look like they have been made up by an NVidia zealot.

lol who say's they don't have something ready? i don't work for AMD an i don't think you do either mate, also Nvidia don't have something ready yet they released the 750ti, so what AMD released the Bonaire chip that doesn't mean the next high end stuff is coming next week, chip fabrication doesn't work like that fella sorry to say ^_^

I'm interested to see if it'll be the fastest single GPU considering that the 290x isn't that far off. I'm guessing it'll also have 8gb ram like that Sapphire 290x does as well.

Considering that a 750ti has slightly more performance than a 650ti ( while having less total cores ) but draws half the power under load, Maxwell chips have very good chances to be much more efficient than current GK110 and pair their performances with less cores. The 750ti has also showed a quite good overclocking potential even with 75W pcie limitations

Nvidia released the 750 ti 4 months ago... and bonaire chip was released one year before, but they didn't intend it to scale up to high tiers, in fact they released Hawaii chips and not "mega uber bonaire 3000 " or whatever

The AMD "Tonga" was rumored to replace the tahiti chip, so i don't expect it to get over the Hawaii chips

Autumn is not " next week " but usually chips developers announce new projects months before... and GM204 have already been spotted on the internet, according to this post ( and its sources ) http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=65299

Chip start to be fabricated and tested months before the release date

In the pic below is a graphics scoreboard for the Sky Diver benchmark. As you can see there is a 750ti on there with a very big overclock to show how it compares to other cards. If you scale the 750ti up I think you would find it is marginally faster than the older cards if they both have the same transistor count but only a few %. The 750ti I agree is more energy efficient but when it comes to performance is not a huge leap forward @28nm nor will the GTX 880 be when it finally shows up and we know the final specs.

Both Nvidia and AMD always have something planned months ahead. They are never to far behind one another. The only thing is Nvidia tend to milk what they already have rather than releasing something new, AMD do it as well, but they aren't quite as bad as Nvidia for it.

I'm guessing the 295X, or whatever it will be called will be faster than the 780Ti, if only by a small amount. There wouldn't be any point in releasing it otherwise.
