AMD going 65nm

Sounds pretty good to me.

AMD are now ready to start racking up some 65nm CPU's: according to The Inquirer

The Inquirer said:
AMD will officially open its Fab 36 extension in Dresden in mid-October.

And it's already moved in tools and other equipment to produce 65 nanometre processors, reliable sources said.

The same sources added that AMD has been running preliminary 65 nanometre engineering silicon since June this year.

So thats all good - AMD should be getting some nice new fast chips out soon. Damn I'm gonna enjoy the Intel vs AMD race :D

Production of 65 nanometre silicon will start in 2006, the firm said

So smaller die size:

More power

and

Less Power consumtion

and Less HEAT

Which then leads me to say:

More overclocking goodness :D

w00t for the Processor race :D :wavey:

AMD is bustin' out the big guns and setting themselves up to dominate the next round too :)

We'll see what happens, muahahhaa.

well this should be good, it wil pwn the prescor core, as it is not so hot, it wil pwn the san diego core, with less power consumption, and higher speeds, it wil just pwn, end of lol... however, the problem is it wil create jsut as much heat as a prescor or a san diego, because they wil most likely use it to make a higher clock speed so the heat wil be about the same, wont it?

I think both AMD and Intel are going to focus on dual cores for the moment as a way of increasing performance. I would think the die shrink will also help up speed again: yes, but I think that AMD will have to try hard to match the next gen intel CPU's :p

indeed, most of the mainstream companys are offering dual core business machines for under a grand.....its obvious both companys are pushing dual core to be the future of cpu technolagy

i do not beleive duel core is the way forward, i prefer good old school one core stuff! thats why i got my 4000+ insted of a 3800+ duel core...i beleive in single core tecnology more than anything else

duel core is the way forward because, more cores = more power, why do you think games in the future will be coming out specially designed to suite dual core machines, if you want to safegaurd your machine into the future dual core is the way to go, even tho atm they are pointless overkill

I think that dual core will be very good for gaming - FEAR is already being optimised for dual cores (alledgedly) and more games will be (UT2K7 :D) :p

Ahh, 2006.

Seem's as though large games like this, and HL2...and others, hardly ever get released on their set date. :rollingla

I'll go dual core as soon as they release an FX dual core, hopefully a 65nm FX dual core... MMmmMMMMMmmMmm spooooooooooooge.
