Amd Bulldozer cpu

Im new to overclock3d so im not sure if I am putting this in the right spot but does anyone have any info about the new amd bulldozer cpu such as the release date, pricing, and clock speeds? Thanks

September 9th 2011. Pricing will be almost identical to the equivalent Sandy Bridge CPUs. Clock speeds I believe for the top one it was 3.6GHz, Turbo to 4.2GHz and can be overclocked to 5GHz on air. If you look around a bit in the forums you can find all the info.

I have been hearing/seeing that the biggest BD chip will be 3.9ghz with a 4.7 turbo, priced around $340. From what i can guess these will be faster than the current sandy bridge 2600k, but i am not sure about ivy bridge. but who knows, maybe AMD will take the top spot again, at least this is what i was hoping when i updated my mobo to a 990FX a few days ago.

i told everyone here months ago

the 990FX chipset is ONLY for Llano APU BDs, with backwards AM3 compatibility (990FX = AM3+)

the newer BDs (Q1 2012) will be a new chipset (FM1 & FM2) (aka AM4)

the boards will have:

the new PCIE3 bandwidths

quad ddr3 (1866+) (aka ddr4)

usb3

sataIII

so, the later BDs (you talk about) will not go on your new 990FX mobo

I think you can with the 990fx and on newegg on the specs for one of these mobos says its bulldozer ready i guess i could be wrong but i dont think newegg would make a mistake like that

consider, if you will, Llano BD as an early-adopter entry-level processor. it is 'bulldozer', but it and the 990FX is only baby-BD.

lol... adolescent-BD arrives in Q4 2011

adult (mature) BD arrives in Q1 2012 <---- this is what most of us are waiting for

please link your info. I can't find anywhere on the internet that supports what you are saying. Why would companies like ASUS build a Formula Board that is not ready for the "mature" BD?

it is a bridging mobo - just like the AM2+ mobos were when they came out. i tried an AM2+ (m4n82 deluxe) when they came out.

it's like this:

  1. you think you are saving money, by using your old CPU (and ram) on a new 'bridging' mobo...
  2. but... then you upgrade your CPU for the mobo... it still works... but is not realising its true potential. (hmmm!)
  3. then the new 'proper' board (the one you really wanted) comes out. it takes your CPU... it unleashes its might...great!!!
  4. but, hang on!!! needs different RAM (and possibly other stuff)

  • you are left with unwanted parts, that only a few would want

and as for my sources, it is microsoft, i have known about these changes for about 3months.

...every quarter ALL microsoft certified devs are given whitepapers on future 'proposed' tech.

  • how on earth are programmers supposed to write new apps/firmware for hardware that does not exist yet?
  • how come new DX11 apps RUN on the latest hardwares?

oh yeah!!! the devs must have had the 'mapping' prior to the RTMs

  • what exactly is a beta?
  • is it for the current (only fixing bugs, etc)... OR testing for the future!!!

i cannot share these papers as they contain some 'NDA' tech. i can also not say EXACTLY what this new proposed tech is.... but i can intellectually-foresee certain future developments, based from past ones.

IE: i CANNOT say there WILL be DDR4 in 2012. but, based on past developments and timescales, i CAN foresee these being available (without breaching NDAs).

the same can be said with many computer-related architecturers.

you do not have to believe me. i am just trying to help this community

another thing to point out in all this is that hex cores were not out (or fully utilized) with socket am3 or the 890 chipset. They had to make new bios's to support the hex cores. The 990 chipset and AM3+ was made to fully utilize the hex core cpu's and future releases of certain cpus as well. The full bore BD processors they'll need a new socket to handle the major changes Full BD brings to the table. While Baby BD keeps our whistles wetted for the time being. This was one of my deciding factors that convinced me to go SB. J.J from Asus said this in one of his videos on Newegg.

I don't know were any of you are getting that info. i have been searching EVERYWHERE on the internet and i cant find any info to support your guys claims.

this part as I said I saw on a Newegg Video about the 990fx chipset. From J.J at Asus's mouth to my ears lol As far as the AM4 stuff I cant recall where I saw it nor can I find it again lol. Got me buggered atm.

I have been looking for any info on on AMD4, and there are not even rumors yet for it. There is also rumor of a FX CPU which is very small rumor. Everywhere i am seeing is that AM3+ will support the baddest BD chips on the market.

it will support it yes but the thing is AM4 with its rumored quad DDR3 will support it bigger and better.

There is nothing for AM4 either. the closest i can find is for socket FM2 code name komodo. WHICH IS NOT Bulldozer but will called Pile driver. late 2012 and is 10 cores.

So currently ALL am3+ boards will support ALL Bulldozer chips to there full potential.

Pile Driver lol I like that name hopefully it does as its named lol I would love to see AMD with the crown again. I wouldnt sweat the AM3+ AM4 thing to much with thier track record it may just not come to be and AM3+ ends it for that socket type. Only time will tell. But if ur looking for performance try out SB lol I'm lovin it.
