Amd Bulldozer cpu

FM1 socket (A75 chipset) motherboards are for the APUs like the A8-3850 and A8-3650

AM3+ socket (990FX chipset) motherboards are for Bulldozer (the cpus that use the bulldozer modules aka the ones coming out in september)

heres a FM1 mobo : A75

heres a FM1 cpu: APU FM1 Socket

990fx boards are 100% made for BD with backwards compatability with 6 cores

Anyone come over any benches for bulldozer. Getting rather impatient.

Isn't it just better to wait for both CPU and mobo to be out on the market at the same time, and buy then? I disagree with buying mobos now for CPUs coming next year.

The Bulldozers this year won't set the world alight, the ones to watch out for are next year.

AM3+ Bulldozers are a first gen joke. The real Bulldozers come on the FM2 socket. AM3+ is only getting the 8 core CPUs. FM2 is getting the 10 core "Piledriver." I only got an AM3 board. I may wait until FM2 / better 1155 boards (no board has enough PCIe lanes).

^^ LOL this guys funny!

990fx chipset was released to guarantee an initial support for the upcoming chips!

I currently have a 990fx-gd80 waiting for a BD chip, do not! assume anything when you are mostly in the dark about every detail on upcoming chipsets/CPU's.

apparently the FM2's only difference is core count and turbo core 3......

Ghosthud1 is right. So far the ONLY new things that the BD/E will have over the BD is 2 more cores and Turbo 3 (which is turned off anyways if you are overclocking). Now i am willing to bet there will be more than that because 10 cores and Turbo 3 doesn't seem to me to be very logical on releasing a new socket (FM2). I am sure BD/E will have some technology advances over BD other than the 2 more cores and Turbo 3, but by the time they come out, i will have the new FM2 socket anyways.

I hope AMD got the 32nm process down and that they got the work per cycle fixed. They delayed b/c of that ( was meant for June/July if I wasn't mistaken). I am serious about 1155 not having enough PCIe lanes. 1 GPU isn't enough for the insane and 24/7 Folders (PCIe lanes: AMD AM3/+ has 42, 1366 has 40, 1155 has 16). 8 cores @ 5GHz sounds pretty good (I don't need it, but it would bump up my PPD). The socket does need to change b/c the northbridge is being moved on-die.

i told everyone here months ago

the 990FX chipset is ONLY for Llano APU BDs, with backwards AM3 compatibility (990FX = AM3+)

the newer BDs (Q1 2012) will be a new chipset (FM1 & FM2) (aka AM4)

the boards will have:

the new PCIE3 bandwidths

quad ddr3 (1866+) (aka ddr4)

usb3

sataIII

so, the later BDs (you talk about) will not go on your new 990FX mobo

Just one thing I need to pick you up on...Quad DDR3 and DDR4 are two totally different things from what I know.

DDR4 is the replacement for DDR3 (~2014 from what I've heard). Quad channel DDR3 sounds good to me. I think that support for quad channel DDR3 at 1866 natively will beat 1155 in memory bandwidth (would be even better to get the option to go with 2000 MHz RAM as an OC option in BIOS). Now if AMD can get it together (enough work per clock cycle), they'll beat Intel for once.
