Amd Bulldozer cpu

Just as a sidenote on the AM4/FM2 issue, it turns out that's going to be for the next set of APUs (Trinity), not the next Bulldozers/Piledrivers (FX-Komodo)

Also, date looks confirmed as September 19th. Details here

I know the AM3+ will work on old AM3 boards, but does anyone know if the Crosshair III is one of them?

I don't think Bulldozer will work on AM3 boards? AM3+ boards have a different pin count that AM3 boards don't have. I could be wrong, but then we have to see what CPU will support AM3+. If Bulldozer works on AM3 then what is the point of the extra contact, this might mean BD/E is AM3+ compatible.

Crosshair IV got the am3+ bios update. Crosshair III does not, according to Asus, so i think it will not be able to run the new cpu's.

Strange that no reviews are ready for the BD. Perhaps it will be delayed further?

The pessimist in me thinks that every thing in the last 2 weeks leaked/shown about AMDs next (scorpius) platform indecates it's goint to be delayed because it's not ready for market, prob because of fab problems. The world record overclock was the last one... I just thought PR bull... gotta sweeten bad news. Sorry bit pissed off atm with AMD. So wanted at least solid reviews, info for an already delayed platform.

From the engineering samples being played with it would seem they overclock well but performance wise they are still not on par with SB.

Unlike intel who try and force us to buy a new motherboard for every new chip, AMD always try to stay with the same motherboard. Llano has NEVER been labeled under the codename of bulldozer. The Micro-architecture is completely different!

Why on earth are people slating the FX series coming this year? $266 as a reported price tag for a base clock of 3.7h/z and 4.2 turbo freq sounds quite good to me, considering we have heard that they OC well.

The CPUs which will be using FM2 sockets will be arriving Q3-Q4 next year are the 3 new APU sets (trinity, weatherford and richland(2-4 cores

Its exactly the same thing as saying that you wouldnt buy SB a few months ago, seing as you knew IB was coming out next year.

4 AMD Bulldozer FX Processors are scheduled to be released on Mid October

The first wave of high-performance desktop systems AMD Bulldozer FX processors will make its appearance in stores on October 15. On that day AMD will release two 8-core FX Bulldozer models, the FX-8100and FX-8150, a 6-core model, the FX-6100 and a quad-core model, the FX-4100.

Just copy n pasted the info from the first link there. Says october now but I do remember it being september 19th a while ago lol they can't make hteir minds up

Will be close to the intel SB-E then. Really exited about how good these FX cpu's will be. If they are 25-35% better then 2600k i might stick with amd a while longer. But ofcource they need to be better overall in many benches and not just games.
