AMD 6900 series...?

To quote TTL from another post "We all know that the hardware industry leaks like a broken pipe."

So where are the 6900 leaks? Why hasn't AMD swooped in with some info letting us all know that the 6900 series blow the GTX 580's out of the water and we should all save our cash for their offerings this holiday season?

Is TTL holding out on us?

NVidia has the 570 coming out in a week with leaked specs.

Come on AMD, tell us where our cash needs to go this Christmas!

I'm sure Tom would tell us if he could but due to NDA's he can't and we wouldn't want him to go to jail or get fined for that would we

You will just have to wait for the surprise when they do come out

The post is more along the lines of WHY hasnt AMD spilled the beans?

Nvidia seems to be cruising with the GTX 580s and have already announced their 570 version with specs.

Leaks are leaks.

Made up stuff is still made up stuff.

Pre-christmas I've always seen as a neat trick.

Some nice stuff to come

to be honest it might just be a bit anti-climactic.

The 5xx Nvidia series has set the bar so high that the 69xx series is going to have to be really really special to follow.

If they dont live up to that, it will just be a bit crappy to be honest

Unless the cards have the AMD trick under their sleeve with the APU. The nVidia cards have to be run on a processor owned by another company.

Not necessarily. Think back to when the Thuban cpus came out. People expected them to obliterate intel's i7 line up but they only suceeded in rumbling the 920 and 930. The higher end stuff is still perched on it's throne. Ofcourse this will likely change when bulldozer is unleashed and pitted head to head with intel's next overpriced creations.

The same may be true for the 6900 series, the performance may be equal to or slightly below nvidea's benchmark but amd's offering may be the better bang for buck, as it has always been. Intel and Nvidea = the absoloute best, while charging a fortune for it. Amd go as close to the best they can while still giving the customer a good deal.

But at the end of the day we'll have to wait and see

You have a good point. Also one thing I like about AMD Cards is that they seem to use less power as well which is great

I dont see how the 570 is charging a fortune.

AMD is going to have to be very aggressive with their pricing (the current leak is 6970 is 450 bucks which I think is a rip if its not much faster than the 570) otherwise nVidia is going to have a merry Christmas. I may just pull the trigger on a 570 since Newegg is giving 50 buck GC on any 300 dollar purchase turning the 570 into a 300 card. If they had the 580s in the stock they would be 450 since the egg is giving 100 GC on any 500 purchase.
