AMD 64 Motherboard Advice

lol cheers Austin!

Hope it ends up a good choice! :D

Your going skt939, and your not even getting the only reason to get 939 - PCIE. Its just not worth it, if you are having an NForce3 chipset and AGP graphics then skt754 is more worth it.

Yes but next year I'm probs going to go for SLi so I'll be getting a PCi-E card. I can then just upgrade the mobo and card. Thats why I'm going skt 939!

It will hopefully be future proof for a bit. :D

You gonna upgrade the mobo andgraphics...right

WHATS THE POINT :banghead:

It makes a lot more sense to get a cheap little skt754 now, then next year upgrade to 939 when all the new cores (dual core) will be out and SLI will be better supported.

I like this idea....

a little off topic - but what's the point of getting banned from a forum and registering again if you cant post? argh!

AustinSX, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

i'm annoyed

Fine but the cheap little 754 is the same price as a cheap 939, so why get 754?

939:

3200+=£130

3500+=£182

754:

3200+=£125

3400+=£144

3700+=£213 (too much!)

So with those prices, isn't it worth getting 939?

NO! ;)

Not in the way your looking at it, with an AGP mobo now and upgrading it and the graphics later on

Trust me, a Lanparty UT and a 3200+ Newcastle will do you fine until 939 and SLI is more viable next year.

Well if ur trying to convince him to wait until next year it'd be more feasible for him to go 1207 as it should be abundant and well priced at that point.

OK so say I get the LAN Party and a 3200+ 754. Am I seeing right when it says that that chip has a 1mb L2 cache? That's what the chip specs say!

I'll keep you informed and when I get my refund from the RMA I'll buy those two.

Thanks for your help! :worship:

newcastles come in 512k of cache and clawhammers come in both 512k and 1024k cache variants but there are two revisions of the clawhammers. The first is the C0, which came in both 512k and 1024k flavors. The newer revision, the CG, comes in both, however the 512k parts are very rare

Hmmm...so is the 3200+ 754 and the LAN Party a good choice then? I do hope it will be cause that's what's been reccomended and well I may well go with it.

Anyone recommend a good aircooler? Is the Zalmon AlCu a good one?

Just don't wanna get stuff then think - why did I get that.... ;)
