AM2+ and K8L...AMD's Saviour?

Really? Wow. I noticed a considerable difference, especially when benchmarking. But if you're not in to the whole benchmarking scene and raw performance measuring then AMD probably is the best choice. 939 / AM2 is a pretty no-hassle platform, I absolutely love it.

yea thats where im @ to me, yes C2D is better and better price vs performance h/e im still on the 939. and there is no real world performance boost, other than a few fps in games and lower superpi scores and of course 3DMARK.

few fps in games is just a bit understated, x2 4200+ vs. a 6300 or 6600 stock, i beleive like 10 fps difference at least?

Stock is one thing, but when you can take a cpu and overclock it into the stratosphere like the C2D's, you have a winner bar none. It isn't just about the benches or fps, but overall computing experience... and AMD is still getting trashed. Granted, when I overclocked my Opty170 it zoomed, but programs and games come out each year that tax the pc components more and more... and Intel's latest will handle all comers for at least a couple years.

My X2 will still do the same. See, this is the same argument i had on another forum. Against benchmarking and the works. To me i could care less what my bench score is cause my games tell me that i can max them out and still have room left over. Thats why i refused people when they told me to go to C2D. I went with an X2 4800+ because it does what i want, i have AMD so im happy, and its still going to pwn for a while. My Socekt A machine pwned for 4 years solid, till it just had enough.
