All PC Gamers Are Pirates Says Ubisoft Executive

And because of that it is acceptable for you to pirate games?

Thats why companies produced DEMOs. Theft is theft. Doesnt matter if its physical, virtual or a copy of something. We pay the salaries of the coders and designers when we buy games. When you pirate games its a big F**k Y** to those who work hard to make the game.

Isn't there some rule on these forums about openly admitting to piracy or something?

I pirate to see if the game is good or not, once I decided if I like it (usually after an hour into the game) I either delete it and forget it ever existed or I buy it.
I buy games all the time.

Doesn't matter if you delete the game if you don't like it, You're still stealing and committing an illegal act, It's no different to robbing a physical copy, Same content.

And you download pirate games all the time

And delete them if I don't intend to keep playing. Just like a demo. There's nothing immoral about it.

Also I believe the rule isn't about admitting to piracy but providing links or something.

It's different if no one was hurt by it. in fact, companies are likely to get money from me if I pirate their game. And if they don't and I delete it, it's like I never acknowledged it's existence.

Yes there is, It's illegal and stealing, How do you not understand this ?

If the company didn't make a demo and I go and obtain a full copy of the game without paying for it, It's stealing, Doesn't matter how you phrase it.

You like someone that commit a crime (steal something) and when you give it back you expect everything to be fine

It's not stealing because I don't prevent access or use of any other person to the game and I either pay for it or delete it.

It's not stealing. If I stole something, the person that I stole it from couldn't access that item until I return it.
If I pirate a game I didn't prevent access or hurt anyone in the process. Developers still earn money because I buy their games, a lot of them..

You don't understand what stealing is do you

Stealing is obtaining any product without paying the asking price that was manufactured be it physical or digital, You download games without paying their asking price i.e Stealing.

It's like going to a car dealer ship at night, Stealing one of their cars and taking it for a ride, Deciding I don't like it and out it back before anyone sees, Yes I put the car back but I still stole it even if it was temporarily.

But I do pay their asking price if I don't delete it. Not damage was caused, I didn't even use their bandwidth. It made no difference to the manufacturer if I completely ignore the game or pirate and delete it right after.

That doesn't matter, You still obtained a full copy of the game without paying the asking price for it, Even if you buy it afterwards, That is still stealing.

Call me a thief, I don't care. I know I'm not doing anything immoral. There are so many games I bought that I would have never heard of if it wasn't for piracy sites. In the end what I'm doing is totally moral even if it's considered theft by the dry definition.

Obviously you do care otherwise you wouldn't defend it so adamantly ^_^

You yourself said if you don't like the game afterwards you delete it, Still thieving no matter how you word it ;)

Yeah, I got a little carried away with this argument. But I still firmly believe I don't do anything wrong.

Also what do you think of piracy to obtain a lost copy? surpass restrictive DRM? Fix bugs? Obtain a game that's not being sold anymore?

Wow, DiyEyal, I've seen many arguments on here, but none with such invalid arguments.

Stealing is stealing, digital or physical. Doesn't matter if it had an effect on anyone or not.

It doesn't matter about your intentions even if they are good and honest, If you didn't pay the initial asking price BEFORE getting said game, Then you're committing an illegal act i.e thievery.

This isn't against you bud so don't take it personally I'm just telling it like it is, If you get a product that is not free and obtain it through illegal ways, Main word, Illegal, Then it's stealing.

Illegal? Maybe, I'm not a legal expert. But not immoral

Show me an invalid point I have made, and please don't put things out of context.

I admire this guy's commitment:cool::rolleyes:

Well thanks I guess.

Diyeyal, in these times there is no need to pirate anything anymore, you just patiently wait for a sale on GMG, Gamersgate or Steam and be done with it. I have been like you, downloading and then buying or not, but my morals came up as i got older and with the insane deals we get now, there is no need to do it. If you are truely excited for a game, watch youtube and see if its atleast good in game mechanics, then just buy it!

Can we get back to ubisoft being utterly stupid again?
