All PC Gamers Are Pirates Says Ubisoft Executive

Because I enjoyed FC3 so much I got FC4 a few hours ago and it finished downloading and wow, Stutter fest even at the lowest settings, V-sync on/off, Such a mess.
For me it was a stutter fest as well but then I remembered last time I updated my GPU(amd 290) drivers was like 4 months ago, so I quickly downloaded the latest beta and now its running smooth on ultra.

"We" only Pirate games we want to play but either dont want to pay the full price, or dont want to help a company like ubisoft with our money. Another thing is many PC gamers dont even have the money to buy games, but its a passion of those too, so they use the ways they can get.

I have not pirated a game for a long time now, and if I want to play a game I will just buy it and if it's crap then I will wait for some patches to come out and see if it, gets better with patches.

I don't like Ubisoft so I won't buy the games regardless of whether I want to play them or not, I won't pirate them either because even pirating add's to the popularity of the game.

I pirate games to see if I like them, after a few hours I decide if I like the game or not. If I don't find it's worth my money I will delete the game and not buy it, but if I like it enough to buy it I will.
I bought over 250 games on steam and ubisoft will include me in their statistics as a pirate even though I wouldn't have bought any previous AC or FarCry game (I bought AC 2,3,4 and farcry 1,2,3,3BD after pirating them).
They don't know if I delete a game or not.
I played unity and it wasn't even worth the space on my HDD so I deleted it.

Most of my PC gamer friends do the same (although they buy less games). But almost every console gamer I know never payed for a game in their life.

That doesn't justify pirating either. A lot of people say they buy the games if they like them, but really i bet over half of the games you pirate and play for a few hours you don't buy afterwards.
You can find all the information you need to get a good first impression on youtube, there is no reason to pirate any game.

If I don't like a game enough to buy it I delete it from my HDD. YouTube and Twitch aren't enough.

Its still wrong; basically theft. You would not steal some food to see if you like it or not. No, you would actually buy it.

Actually physical objects are different. If I stole someone's food, he wouldn't have that food and he would need to spend more money to buy more food. If I pirate a game I get a COPY and no one lost anything.
Again, I never keep a game if I don't buy it. I bought over 250 games on steam.

Youtube and twitch are enough. You are consuming their product, you have to pay for it. You can't eat at a restaurant and then refuse to pay because the food didn't taste good enough either.

Actually in South Africa if we don't like the service we don't pay but I'm against Piracy just because I won't like to produce a video and sell one copy and the rest of the people just makes copies from that one disc

Again, if it was a restaurant I get a physical object, service and people have to work separately to make the food, of course I wouldn't refuse to pay for it even if it's bad.
But games don't need to be made again and again and again everytime someone buys a game. No one is being hurt, it's like I go to a friend's house and try one of his games and if I like it enough I will buy it.
If I don't like the game enough I delete the game and no damage is being done

Yea and that's the great misconception. Just because you aren't stealing directly out of their pocket doesn't mean you aren't stealing. A game might only have to be made once, but compared to a burger it costs millions of dollars to make, not $2.
When you test a game at your friend's house then he at least paid for the game, when you pirate the game nobody paid for it. Also you can't take the game from your friend, when you pirate the game there is no obligation to delete it.
And don't tell me you bought every game you ever pirated and liked and deleted every game you didn't like, not buying that.
Piracy causes damages worth billions of dollars every year and you are part of the problem, your pseudo morals don't change that.

I find it hilarious that they label PC gamers as all pirates..

How many chipped consoles are there around these days? *EVERY* console game appears on the torrent lists often before the PC ones, because it's *even easier* to bypass the copyright stuff, and it's just a disc copy.

This is such fucking bullshit, there's a fucking reason I have had a steam account for over 10 years, I'm an enthusiast level gamer, and proud of it. Piracy is rife, and there's no stopping it granted but they can fuck off saying we PC gamers are all pirates, we don't spend the cash we do on gaming rigs to be smacked in the face with this shit.

Never buy AAA games on release seems to be the moral of this story.

Also what is this talk about FC4 actually running better on AMD? I've seen like three or four people say that now compared to everyone on Nvidia. wut?

Actually I deleted every single game I decided not to buy. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

If every industry worked this way they wouldn't survive for a second. They survive on the profit of all the sales not just the ones that were satisfied, it's an important part of business.

Also, you do realise that a lot of physical human hours were put into each of these games. People that earn an income to support their families. Do not for one second try and justify your complete and utter bullshit.

Thats why companies produced DEMOs. Theft is theft. Doesnt matter if its physical, virtual or a copy of something. We pay the salaries of the coders and designers when we buy games. When you pirate games its a big F**k Y** to those who work hard to make the game.

Isn't there some rule on these forums about openly admitting to piracy or something?
