The new stuff aint as good as the old. But the new guy is great. I seen them a few years back when they supported metallica at marlay park in dublin. They were incredible live

Black gives way to blue is really getting into me, but its hard to forget all the old great ones AIC had. Saw them live in Roskilde and they where a bit surty but still great :-D

If black gives way were A debut album hy a new band it would be a very good album but as its not and and they arent it just doesnt compare to dirt

Think they are still having some good simularitys to the old sound. First album and maybe second is mutch better. Think one of the gitarists are doing a really great job in helping the lead vocal. doesnt remeber hes name but hes almsot the core in that band

No one can replace Layne Staley, no one. I do like the new lead, but I don't think it's right that they kept the band name. The Staley/Cantrel duo IS Alice In Chains. Without either piece of that puzzle, it's not real AIC.

That's just my opinion. They should have changed the band name.

^ QFT. If you weren't a mod, I'd + 1 you. I first heard the new album while at a New Year's Eve party a couple years ago. I remember it was "Check My Brain" (don't remember the address tho lol). It's decent, but it's not as good as "Rooster" (about Jerry Cantrell's uncle serving in Vietnam) or their other classics. I'm a sucker for "Rooster" and pretty much every other war song. Dirt is to AIC as Rust in Peace is to Megadeth, IMO.

Yeah he had a special voice. To bad that many great musicians dies way to early..

I wish i could +1 on the mobile version of the site. When rooster comes on in my car im telling you its like everything goes into slow motion

Yes. I know what you mean. The opening line of "Rooster" gives me the chills. I watched Terminator : Salvation last night just for the car scene where "Rooster" is played. It was a perfect place to play the song.

Yeah its a really great song. The Dirt album is one of the best albums produced. So mutch good music from end of 80 and trough the 90's.

Dirt is one of my top 3 favorite albums of all time. It's one of those albums you can put on repeat, never skip a song, because they're all epic, and it doesn't get old for a month....

+1

Same with Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan from Avenged Sevenfold. He died on December 28, 2009. He was just 28. He was a very talented drummer with some health problems. He had an enlarged heart, for which he was prescribed a codeine-based painkiller. He died from a fatal drug interaction (drinking alcohol while having codeine in your system will lead you to no longer breathing). The band celebrated his memory with the release of "Nightmare." They really were best friends.

If you couldn't tell, he was the comedian of the band.

As for Layne, it's really hard to replace someone like the vocalist and remain true to the spirit of the band.

I gotta say two of my favorite albums are "Dirt" and Megadeth's "Rust in Peace"
