Air 540 Work in Progress

I'm not up and running with my rig yet, still have my cables to sort out.

But to give you an idea of where I'm at I've took a couple of pics.

I made a false bottom to hide the hideous HDD racks. It just needs neatening up a little now.

The two little spots are where I need to drill some holes for my PCI-E cables to run once they're done.

I'm going for Green and White Cables to accent the GFX cards.

Also not sure whether to leave the bottom white or go black with maybe add a thin green and white stripe.

With the side on

I think I'm also going to find a way of blocking off those hideous cable routing rubber things.

SPEC:
Corsair 540 Air
Intel Core i5 4670k
Asus Z87 Sabertooth
Corsair AX860i
Msi GTX 780 SLI
Corsair Vengence 16GB
1x Samsung 830 256GB SSD
Corsair H100i with 2 x SP120 fans
3X Corsair AF140 fans

No optical :)

That's some good looking stuff! Was planning a build with the same (black, white and green) colour scheme :)

Looks great mate :) kept it simple and clean. Only niggle of mine is that usb3 connector, no chance of hiding it?

Thanks, to be honest it's very rare I use the front USB ports so i'm probably just gonna pull it out when I fit all my cables.

It should make it easier to cover the rubber holes too with less cables going through them :)

Great looking rig! Another thing you could do with the false bottom is instead of painting it all black with a white/green stripe, keep it white with a black/green stripe. I think that would create some really nice contrast.

Hi Sgt_Pepper,
Very nice rig , I'm really liking the 540 , I think it will probably be my next case.
I like the false bottom , great idea .
I agree with Mgutierrez33 on keeping it white with black and green stripes or something, you could tape it and do a custom design paint job with the name of the rig.
But a very clean build , good job.

Very nice! I've been inches from buying a 540 these last few weeks and its nice to see what it could have looked like with a pair of 780's. It's really nice.

Just to stick my spoke in, if you do paint the bottom with stripes then to me the thickness would be very important. The green stripe should be as wide as one of the letters on the GPU, just 1-2mm. And the white stripe should be as wide as one of the fan rings in order to delicately bring some continuity to it and you didn't just do it 'cus i haz paint!'

Really though top build in my book, I love to see superstock builds with carefully chosen parts just modified enough to make it look as if that's what the manufacturer intended. Colour scheme is just right too, white and green accents are perfect against the aluminium.

I like what you've done here so far. I also have an Air 540 case I'm building currently. I really like the false bottom you put in, as I was planning to do something similar. Would you mind documenting how you created it?

Great build! I think the white floor looks great as is, simple is best in my eyes, it draws the eye to the beautiful GPUs :)

Thanks for the comments, I'm almost finished now just gotta get my cables in the right place.
I've decided I'm going to keep the bottom white as it reflects the light off the GPU's in the dark

Poor phone pic :)

I'll try to finish the wires this week then borrow a camera so i can get some nice pics up :)

It wasn't as complex as created, more just cut to size. It's made from a piece of facia board that I just cut at work. I used something similar in an old Akasa Eclipse build i did so i could hide the HDD's on the bottom of the case. Once I saw this case I knew it would be perfect.

Some subtle white leds would compliment this rig so well..

If you really wanna make it epic then go for watercooling. The rig sort of looks empty lol:p

I agree on the water cooling looking epic.
It's not something that I've ever dabbled in so would probably require a lot of research before i set about it.

Then there is the cost, at the moment it seems like a lot of expense for little gain to me.

(I have seen a few builds with the rigid tubing. If i ever were to WC I'd probably want to go down that route.)

Very nice. One thing that niggles me is that false plate. Obviously its a personal opinion and i know some people like large amounts of white but its not my thing. I prefer white as an accent.

Apart from that, i love it :D
