AHCI & Software Raid

Hello.

Just been trying to get my SSD to boot in AHCI mode (had to wipe it to make the stupid AHCI boot past detecting devices).

Long story made short...I also had to wipe my two Raptor drives which I now want to boot as Raid0.

SSD for OS
Raid0 raptors for Games/Programs.

But the bios only allows selection of either AHCI or Raid. Don't think it pops up with the raid menu once I set to AHCI either (I don't think so)

Is this a limitation of the board as it only had one sata controller? Its a Maximus formula (775 old skool) flashed to a Rampage formula.

Unless (as I've just googled) you are supposed to set to Raid mode in the bios as this applies both Raid and AHCI?

I assume what you're concerned about is making sure TRIM will work on your SSD.
TRIM will work when you're in RAID mode on the latest Intel storage driver so long as you don't actually have the SSD in a RAID array. I'm not sure if you have to have a newer board or not for this to work.
In short: RAID mode in BIOS, under certain circumstances, applies RAID and AHCI.
