Advice for ~3000€ build.

Hey guys,

I'm planning on a new build, and need some ideas about few components.
Things with question mark are MOBO + HDD (+ CPU Cooler)

I have already bought 4770k
Ordered: GTX 780

Still waiting for confirmation:
RAM: Corsair DDR3 Dominator Platinum 32GB (4x8GB) 1866MHz CL10 1.5V, DHX heatspreader
2x SSD: Samsung 840 500GB
Corsair AX 1200W + Individually sleeved cables
Cosmos II case

And things i haven't decided on yet:
Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5 ?
Noctua NH-D14 ? I don't know if i should go on H110i or some air cooling...
And
HGST HDD SATA 3TB 7200RPM 6GB/S/64MB A7K4000 0F14689 HGST ?

I will be doing some overclocking, obviously some gaming, some video editing for personal matters (motorsport).

I believe i will update in future, considering, i took the 1200W supply, meaning Maybe SLI or waiting for new GTX + then SLI (x3?)

Budget isn't limited, well, just let's stay in close-enough-to-normal.

I do like custom water cooling, but i'm a little bit afraid of it, so probably will try it on my current rig when it will stay as secondary.

So any ideas or anything to make it cooler in temps and in any other way + perfomance, give your opinion.

EDIT: Also forget to mention that, i would like to keep it as quiet as possible. (But not hold back with efficient cooling)

Thank you in advance. :)

Ok you don't need 32 gig ram drop that down to 16 or even 8, now as to cooling the H100i is a great choice, as to the motherboard the one you have chosen is good or go an MSI GD65 and the power supply is over kill go with the 860i which is more than enough for 2 cards, also understand that the cosmos doesn't have a window as far as im aware so you wont see your nice cables so maybe think of a case with a nice window in it to show off your nice new gear

That's a huge budget you got there.
To your questions:

For the mainboard I'd get a Gigabyte Z87X UD4H or MSI Z87 GD 65 Gaming, the Maximus VI Extreme has some issues (they might be fixed now, check Tom's review), not sure if the Maximus VI Formular is also affected by this problem.
If you want a green colour scheme the Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5 would be a good choice.

For the CPU cooler I'd buy a h100i, maybe add some SP120 quiet edition fans.

HDD: Personally I've always used WD drives and never had a problem, if it's just to store music and movies, I'd get a Green.

At what resolution are you gaming? If it's 2560x1440 or 3x 1080p, I don't see a need for 3 780s, 2 are easily enough, this way you can get a AX860i.

The case is a personal thing but imo the cosmos 2 is very big and not too well laid out, without a custom loop, even a high end build like the one you plan sometimes looks lost in this massive case.

My advice would be this, it would be 250e more than Haswell Top but better and need little waiting.
Because cooler, motherboard, memory price is same only 6 core and better overclock and top motherboards and coolers make sense

4930K Swiftech H220 revision
ROG 5 Extreme
4x4GB Dommy
Seasonic Platinum 1000
2x780 EVGA ACX or 770
240GB Neutron GTX
Obsidian 900D
Keyboard and mice CORSAIR.

Off course for gaming RIG I would buy always 4x4GB RAM and difference in
price invest in 2 cores more than 4770k.

The extra ram will help with video editing, depending on what software you use...

get the seasonic platinum 1000.although its not necesary ,in case you go 3x780(but why?) it will work no problemo. and for the cooler ,get the swiftech h220.its the best performing AIO liquid cooler.also you can hook up to it another radiator and you can cool the gpu as well.as others mentioned, get Gigabyte Z87X UD4H or MSI Z87 GD 65 Gaming.there is no reason to go higher in price as those perform excellent.then match them with the msi gtx 780 gaming.top notch cooling, from wich the gpu boost 2.0 will benefit

I personally wouldn't recommend getting 3 way SLI as the extra increase in FPS is often much less than going from 1 to 2 cards i've heard. Therefore you're spending s**t loads of money for very very little gain and we obviously want you to get the best for your money.

As for hard drives you will want an SSD for your OS and games and maybe a low powered drive like a WD green for your storage because it'll save you money on your electricity bill and for storage you don't need a faster drive than that. In fact it'll prob last longer because of it (Only use this drive for storage though, Music, photos etc. but not programmes). Samsung SSD's are supposed to be very good and they've just released some new ones called 840 Evo I believe so might be worth looking for some reviews for those.

PSU the guys have got you covered. an 860i would be perfect or a similar platinum seasonic would be my choice. 860i prob better because you can buy the sleeved cable sets for it

Motherboard again I agree with what the others have said GD65 gaming or a similar gigabyte board. Maybe see how the formula does in reviews if that takes your fancy.

Cooler I would personally go for custom watercooling with your budget. Especially in the cosmos 2 which is huge but that's up to you. I mean an H100i would be good too.

As for 32gb of ram I would jsut keep that since you have the budget for it and you said you'll be doing some editing so what the hell!! Or actually, get 16gb but get faster RAM such as 2133mhz instead of 1866

I more like custom sleeve cables. Or do you see from moddiy site cables for CORSAIR AX and Seasonic Platinum, custom, EXCELLENT! BEST ON MARKET FINISHED CABLES!
