Hi.

I'm having a issue with a 980 card and a Asus p9x79-e ws motherboard.
The 980 card works in another rig, and the rig works with another graphicscard.
But when i try to run the 980 card in the rig thers no image on the screen, and the q-code shows error code "B2" or "62", looks like its "B2" but im not 100% sure. And the LED indicating a problem with the graphicscard starts to light up.

I have tried to clear the cmos, with no luck. And I'm running the 1602 bios, which looks to be the newest.

I know the PSU is big enough, and i know its working.

No, i have not tried other slots, the case is modifed to even be able to get the card inn, so it fits in this slot, and this slot only :/
But the slot works with my old gtx 760 card.

'big enough'

Try updating the bios then swap the PSU's over if it doesnt work after that just to help diagnose things

Can try to "update" to the same bios.

Give us proper specs, How big is the PSU, Specs of your system, What is the old GPU ? etc...

Seasonic platinum 1000w, old psu is a ax750 that randomly just died.
Old gpu is a gtx 760 dc2, new gpu is a gtx 980 strix.

Hmm, Odd, Have you tried different connections i.e HDMI, DP etc... ?

Have tried displlayport, hdmi and dvi :p

But google tels me that there is a bugg with 980 and my mobo, but they have fixed the problem by updating the bios, but i am running the latest bios :/

Tried to flash the bios with the usb flashback feature, with no luck. Still get the "B2" error code, with the fault lap for graphicscards on the motherboard lighting up.

I have two systems based on the P9X79-E WS, each has 1200W power supplies. The only major difference between them is that one has a Sandybridge 3820 CPU and the other has an IvyBridge 4820 CPU. GTX 980s work just fine with the Ivybridge system, but they will not even post on the Sandybridge system. Sound familiar? Since Asus hasn't posted a BIOS update for this motherboard since March of 2014 (1602), I think we're both out of luck. I'm assuming you never found a solution here.

Replace your 3820 with a 4820 and will be well...

Replying to myself, and it's a somewhat expensive fix, but dropping a 4820 in to replace the 3820 in my P9X79-E WS made the post problem magically go away.
