Hi guys i've got £95 to spend on a graphics card and would like some opinions. The three cards im undecided on are: XFX 512Mb nVidia GeForce 9600GT £84.54 inc vat XFX 256Mb nVidia GeForce 8800GT £88.07 inc vat

XFX 512Mb nVidia GeForce 9800GT £93.12 inc vat

As i said in a previous post i've read on many occassions that with Nvidia cards the higher the number doesnt nessasarily mean a better card. The card will be used for games (COD5 and Farcry2 when released)and also for tv out via s-video.My Geforce 7600GT will be going in my backup pc.All feedback would be appreciated

i would get either the 9600 gt or 9800 gt but its up to you and + the 9800 gt performs better then the 9600 gt does but yeah 9600 gt is a decent card

personally i would go for a 8800gt or a 9800gtx if you can afford the 9800gtx that would be best

thought he 9600gt is a good card

save for the 9800GT out of those, as it is similar to the 8800GT but has more memory, which will be useful in FC2 as that is going to ned ALOT :D If the 4850 comes down in price more that should give great frames, as it goes toe to toe with te 9800GTX+ on alot of tests

Does it strike any1 else as odd that the current generation is the GT2xx series and yet the debate here is which 8 or 9 series card is worth just under £100 ?

Just been and got the Asus 512mb 8800GTS and a perfect install to boot,no BSOD,no beeps or crashes and just ran 3d Mark on full 13 minute test and shes running at 47 degrees.Very pleased. The reason it only cost £94 inc vat is because its end of life and was clearence stock. Thanks for the feedback guys once again

Just a quicky but this card is awesome. The thing that supprises me is how quiet it is considering its like a house brick.Been running some demos and Full games and i always thought the phrase "jaw dropping graphics"was a sales pitch but its true.Lost planet is gorgeous, superbike 08 is unbelievable and mercenaries2 is quality(you can actually see the heat coming off the tanks when you get close to them).I know i sound like a little kid but im well chuffed

its because we all know that the curent gt2's are not really worth it

rawr! ATi! Get the new 4670 (I think that is what it is called) it is awesome and cheap!

Happy Rast? :p

It all depends on what you want to do with it. If it is for gaming, I would wait for a month to collect some more cash if you cannot afford it at the moment and go for a 9800GT or 9800GTS. The difference between middle and high class cards is always big. I have a friend who always buys according his moto: "The higher class hardware you buy, the more money you saved!" :)
