£900 build, including a monitor, please help me out

The updated one ends in B I think. They started shipping last november so by january some places may still have had old stock. I think everyone just does the new model now so it may have lost the B.

I've read other reviews which say it's perfectly fine for gaming, and it cant exactly be worse than the 32 inch TV that I'm currently using :)

Ok. I'll wait till you get yours to decide :) Woud be interesting to see how it performs with movies, ie the black levels and backlighting bleeding.

At the moment I'm trying to decide between 3 PSUs:
  1. Be Quiet Straight Power E9 680W, £83.62, 80 Plus Gold, modular
Its not available at the moment, but since I still have some time till I order the parts, it might come back.
  2. Corsair TX650M 650W, £77.58, 80 Plus Bronze, semi-modular
  3. Corsair HX650 650W, £78.78, 80 Plus Bronze, modular
there is a new version of HX650 in works, with 80 Plus Gold certification, but I couldn't find pricing for it.

Personally, I am leaning towards Be Quiet PSU, but availability might be a problem. Which one do you guys think is better? Any other suggestions?

I think I will do that, but in case it's still not available when I'm going to be placing the order, what would be my second best option?

After a bit of testing with the monitor, I do think it is very clear. Far better than my old TV for general use, and the picture of it is very very good. Gaming and films to follow :)

Awesome! If its good in games and especially movies, that'll save me nearly 50 quid. Would be good as I'm well over my £900 limit :)

Meanwhile, I decided to get Antec Kuhler H2O 620 CPU Liquid Cooler 2, its £43. Which in turn made me realise that I don't need a midi case, because with no massive heatsink taking space there will be enough airflow. So back to Arc Mini.

Further research is showing that Antec Kuhler 620 would be unable to handle overclocks... So looking at H80, but then H100 is only £10 on top of H80. Should I just go with a cheap heatsink or stock cooler for a bit and then buy H100, or should I not bother and get it straight away? I really want to fit this purchase into sub-£950 including delivery.

Quite simply I doubt I'll ever be able to afford a custom loop, although I would love one. And I would like to have a loop mainly because it frees space and looks awesome. Plus the cooling, of course :)

If you are to go with a loop such as the Corsair H series, i'd go with nothing less than the H100. Anything else can be beaten by the 'D14 etc. so it's pointless to me.

I dont mind its look, but don't see much point. Don't get me wrong, its a brilliant heatsink, but because I settled on mATX format, I don't want to take the most of the space with it, and lets say H100 would fit perfectly into the Arc Mini's roof. The problem is that if I am to go for a decent cooler now, I have to cut down heavily on everything else, as I'm not a millionaire :) I'm planning to get all the goods by the end of the week :)

Fair enough, but have you considered a smaller air cooler like the CM Hyper 212+? Really decent cooler for the price.

With a build such as this, with a budget constraint, sometimes sacrifices do have to be made. If it were me, I'd get my rig all up and running with a stock heatsink whilst I saved up for a H100 or similar.

Exactly what I was thinking :)

I know it is, had considered it before. Well, rather the 212 EVO because its only 2 quid more and 212 + is not available at scan.co.uk, where I'm going to be getting all bits. If I get 212+ from somewhere else it would cost more with delivery.

But here is a dilemma, to get 212 or not.. Especially in light of me upgrading to H100, but then again, H100 is a year old, and the next wave of closed loop systems should be better than the current generation (judging by Corsair's line ups) and I doubt its far from release.

So two options:
1. Stick with stock cooler and upgrade to H100 next month
2. Get 212 Evo and upgrade around Christmas, meanwhile spending money on SSD, etc...

As I wrote them down, the second one seems more sensible. What do you guys suggest?

P.S. Is there a better/cheaper shop than scan.co.uk?

Scan/Aria/Ebuyer/Amazon are all good bets.
The only issue with waiting for something to be released, is that you have no idea when it shall be released. In the mean time, you could be enjoying a great product (the H100).
A H100 should be able to get at least 4.5GHz out of an Ivy chip, after all.

Totally agree with you on that. At the same time whatever you buy is already outdated anyway :) I think I'll go with 212 EVO for now, just because SSD is more of a priority than H100.

Here's my updated parts list:
PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£176.60 @ Scan.co.uk)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£26.65 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus V Gene Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (£153.32 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB ) DDR3-1600 Memory (£47.76 @ Scan.co.uk)
Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card (£208.54 @ Scan.co.uk)
Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£62.75 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (£78.78 @ Scan.co.uk)
Monitor: Dell U2312HM 23.0" Monitor (£180.28 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £934.68

I am still unsure about the graphics, as I posted on one of the other threads:
"I'm actually also trying to decide on one of the 7850 cards, its between XFX 7850 Black Edition DD (208.54), XFX 7850 DD (£194.14), MSI 7850 Twin Frozr III (£179.74) and MSI 7850 Power Edition (£208.54). I prefer the looks of XFX cards, but I heard a lot of good and bad things about the company. And I do not know whether its worth taking the black edition over the standard one, as the only different thing is the bumped up speeds and voltage on the black edition. Does anybody know if they cherry pick the chips for the black edition ones? Also the cooling on MSI Power Edition is superior to Twin Frozr III, but I do not know whether the price increase justifies it. Any ideas?"
