8800gt g92 how hot ??

well my 8800gt g92 gainward single slot gpu is getting silly hot :S idles at 55 and goes to 85-90 playing a simple game like cs:s and its still at stock speeds :S

is this normal my old palit8800gt g92 cheap and nasty card never went over 60

what cooler do u have on it? is it one of those silly 1cm fan things with a stupid big heatsink?

with them at 70% its LOUD and still 65 ish

it was set to 'dynamic' but i moved it to 'fixed speed' in the expert tool

that means the fan speed is always the same.. so if the fan always spins at like 45% of course it will get hot.. stick it back on dynamic so the fan speed will increase when it gets hot.

when i say fixed speed i eman fixed speed at 70%

I had to flash mine (evga) so the dynamic speed would actually work...not sure if u would need to. google around

I have 2 x 8800 GT from sparkle and had same problem , idle temp 68-73C and when gaming 90-98C (stock setings not clocked), freaking hot and loud , last week i have buyed 2 x Zalman VF1000-LED VGA Cooler, a bit expensive but what can i say , idle temp are 40-45C and when gaming max 60C-62C (even when clocked core clock 647 MHz and mem to 960MHz(eff 1920MHz)it went to 69C @room temp about 20C). about sound ? dont hear them at all more noise i get from case cooler (with is very quiet).but i`m thinking about new rig now, i will start to build next month and i`m 100% sure that i will put watercooling for cpu chipset and VGA card. if you want to stay with this card i think paying 27 pund for extra cooling will be good idea ,but its up to you.
