Hi,

Any of you know where I can buy 8" UV cold cathode. I got Frozenq res (250mm) but when I was installing it, the cathode broke (my fault). Now I know that I can order from them directly but the shipping is twice the price of the cathode. Therefore I'm looking for other shop that I could buy 8" cathode (the 12 " is too long - tried it) that would not rob me on the shipping to Ireland. Any of you know such shop - google is not helping tbh nor is ebay.

Thanks vorticalbox, but 10 cm is half of what im looking for. and yeah specialtech is awesome shop, bought few things off them already
 
Thanks guys, I was on google for 2 days now and cant find anything in Europe :/

@Rogester: LEDs are unfortunately out of the question as :

a) they only emit light directionally and the res would not be lit evenly

b) they are too thick to be inserted in the hollow inside of the res. I probably could back lit it but i reckon the CCFL does a better job on it.

Anyways I think I'll have to order it from frozenq but if any of you have further suggestions I'm all ears
 
There are plenty of 6" 12cm ones on the bay, and Amazon mate, they are advertised as the automotive ones,but are still 12v.
 
I think that's the closest you'll get mate, if you position it in the middle of the spiral, it will at least light that up, it might even look better, looking at your pic the end caps being lit up that bright, it takes the eye away from the spiral.

It does at the moment beacuse the cathode thats in is 12" blue, but when i ran a test before putting it in with 8" one , it looked spot on until i broke it

Ah right. There bound to be out there but were. There is another forum that kind of sounds like this one, were they have a frozen q owners club, they might be better equipped to help.
 
I need a new one too because mine has suffered damage due to a slow leak I had when I first got the reservoir, but I'm probably just going to have to buy from the FrozenQ shop as well :/
 
Well I had old CCFL (the one you see in the picture) and it came off really easily (it is sharkoon one) but it was used every day for past 3 years but it seems that the core itself is not glued and only square ends are glued with hot glue, so I reckon small bit of heat and it will come off.

edit: was thinking about Rogster idea but it would not be ideal solution as you would have to put one 10cm ccfl from top and other from bottom and both of them have about 2mm end where there is no light which would come out dead on centre of res where you want the most light to be
