750d vs air 540 for watercooling

Permafrost

Compo Whore
Hi guys i'm thinking of getting a new case as i'm really bored on my C70
just want to know from people who own a 750D or a Air 540
I am watercooling but I'm still a newbi at it

I'll be cooling a cpu and gpu

I would like to hear from the people who own them, I've seen both reviews a few times and still can't make my mind up .............. :P #noshitsherlock

Well if you think about it it depends what you want to put in it watercooling wise, thats why I said watch the reviews. beyond that its just an aesthetics choice.

I most of the time looking at the pc with the window facing me, I know it might be a bit over kill but i really wanted to you a 240mm x 60mm and a 360mm x 60mm, i can't remember who said it but someone said that can't be done in the air 540....

also i know your busy but are you going to do a watercooling guide on the air 540?

I think you'd be hard pushed to get a 60mm 240 rad in the top of the 540 AIR. I've got a 47mm 240 (EK CoolStream XT) up top and that pretty much comes down to the top of the motherboard. The next 13mm or so would probably depend on the motherboard. In my case (Z87X-OC) I think I'd have problems with the 8-pin power connector.

There's probably not a lot in it between the 2 cases. I think for me though, I'd go with the 750D for watercooling (I should've waited). The 5½" bays are in the right orientation for a bay res (if you wanted one) and you don't have to deal with either trying to fit the pump in the windowed side or routing tubing between the 2 sides if you put the pump in the PSU side (like I did).

I'm just about talking myself into switch cases (dammit!).

For air cooling I'd go with the 540 AIR though (duh!), so it might be worth considering if you're ever likely to use the case to air cool a build.

ok awesome thanks for the info mate!! looks like it's going to be the 750D for me then, just want to hear from any one who owns a 750D and then i'll order one in a few days, but i do miss having a switch 810 but it's time for change and i hope the 750D gives is a good run for it's money!

I said watch the review. if you have a rad in the front of the 540 you cant use the roof grill for much at all.

Specifically covered this IN THE REVIEW thats why I spend so long making them so I dont have to type all this

but tom you didn't do a full review of the air 540 lol it was a first look, some people are still waiting for a full review and the watercooling guide :yelrotflmao:

Oh yeah, it's definitely possible to watercool the 540. It just seems to me (without having used a 750D) that the 750D would be easier.

I've also seen a few builds that have 360mm rads in the front and 240mm rads in the roof, but maybe Tom was meaning with a 60mm 360 rad i nthe front.

Obsidian 750D cry for water cooling.
I see better options even than on 800D.
With radiator options on 3 place 360mm top, 240mm front, 240mm floor.
You can choose. On top panel maybe is possible even 3x140mm.
And every place have own filter and solution to support plus with Demciflex but not to be visible. I can't find better water cooling case except Merlins SM8.

Yeah, I've also not been able to find the full review for the 540 AIR. Although to be fair I only looked in the "Overclock3D Reviews" section of this forum as I assumed they'd be posted in there.
