Today an announcement has been made by valve stating that its widely used source engine has now been programmed to support 64 bit technology, advantages will include the use of more objects, higher FPS and compatibility and more oppurtunitys for special effects.

This is definatly welcomed showing that valve has not left there community in the dust. It also shows the expandability of the source engine, and i would go so far as to say that it will be one of the first engines to be coded that will provide support for multi core systems/processors.

Shame it is only for windows 64 operating systems and is only supported by HL2 and lost coast :D bit it is a start i guess!

Thats the big issue - to enjoy 64-bit goodness (been around for over 2 years now) you need a 64-bit OS, XP64 is the only available OS for gaming and we hear mixed views on that.

Personally I am going to give it a go in the near future - or might try (for the very first time) making a dual boot system so I can still bench in 32bit.
