how long do you think we will keep 64 bit processing before 128, 256, 512 etc bit become standard?

im curious....because 32 bit didnt seem to last all that long, nor did 16 bit, or 8 bit..

The sse extensions on an Intel chip [AMD have their own extensions] are 128 bits wide to allow simultaneous operations on up to four pieces of data at once. So we are effectively using 128bits now.

The thing is, there are applications out there doing 128bit calculations on a 32bit os. do we need a 128bit os at all.
