Hello folks,
I registered all the way back in 2006 but my account got deleted apparently
. Anyway, moving on:
I currently have a Antec Sonata 2 casing, which includes a 450W PSU. I was hoping to use this power supply to power my new rig. Can you guys shed some light if this PSU is powerful enough?
I've already purchased a motherboard (cheap, Asrock B75M-DGS; based on B75m chipset), so am left with a CPU, Memory, CPU and HDD.
CPU: i5 3470; 160EUR
Mem: Corsair Vegenance Black 2x4GB; 34EUR
HDD: WD WD10EZRX, 1TB; 60EUR.
This leaves me with roughly 300EUR left for a GPU. I can get a HD7950 that will fit into this budget and will be left with 20EUR. Just to give you guys an idea: a HD7950 is 260EUR whereas the HD7870 is 200EUR, so in my country it amounts to a 30% premium.
Is a HD7950 overkill for a system like this? I plan on playing Sleeping Dogs, BF3, BO2, and GTA 5 next year at 1920x1080. I'm not expecting to run next year's GTA with everything up high, I just want a decent gaming rig.
