4g data speeds

Hi, i am wondering what max speeds people have got on 4g.

i was in manchester earlier today and i did a speedtest using my iphone 5s on EE 4g,

this was the result. it kinda shocked me!

Wow, my home internet is like 1/10 as much as that if it's correct lol. I can't wait till I move out so I have a say in it, and I can get fibre :) It's a shame my dad can't swing it so that BT lays the fibre cables in my area :P (My dad works at BT by the way lol).

i did 3 tests, 1st was 50mbs, second was this one, and third was about 60mbs... all rather decent speeds on a phone

you know 4g is basically just low-grade wifi right?

Nope. lol

I was starting to regret signing up to VM 60mb.... my current 3 network contract said that my package would self upgrade to 4g.....still, I think I've gone the right way.

Unless you live on top of a transmitter, it's not really worth getting any of the 4g plans. it really is data only, as in, unless you specifically use VOIP, you won't get better calls or anything.. it's just for data

4g at set band waves do have added benefit over 3g like better coverage from the same towers, but for just phone users it is pointless.

The main benefit to me is the data allowances on 4g are much higher for a small amount of money extra

I managed to get thru 3.1gb of my 4 gb allowance!!

watching stupid vids on faceboox, streaming spotify extreme bitrate when in the car, and the odd youtube vid!!

I heard Three were just going to do a free upgrade to 4G, do you not need a particular SIM or anything?

I can't even remember if my phone is 4G ready, not bothered to be honest either. If I get it for free, great, if I don't...oh well.

you ever heard of wi-fi :P

I don't use my phone at home much. No point when I have my gaming rig. And I don't have a wifi hotspot in my car... Lol

Not sure about ya 3 upgrade thing. I have had bad experience with that network and won't be going back any time soon. They let me down when they turned off ther 2g network.
My car broke down and I had no signal. And I had to go knocking on houses and ask if I could use ther phone to call for the AA.

What upsets the most was I was on my way to go see my dad in hospital after a very motorbike crash

Yeah 3 are upgrading 4g, I rang them on the 10th to give my 30days notice as my 3 BB contract expires, and the guy said that 4g in is in a few places now, and being rolled out through 2014, and aim for 98% coverage by the end of 2015....

lol, the guy said to wait wait till Jan so we can try and offer you a great deal.....in a ploy to not give my notice which in effect lets 3 take an extra month. the cheek of it :(

*Taken from my 3 Dashboard*
We're working hard behind the scenes on our 4G roll-out, we'll start in December in London, Birmingham and Manchester, reaching 50 more cities by the end of 2014. We aim to cover 98% of population by the end of 2015.
Satellite

I live in newport which is about 20mins drive East of Cardiff so where when they complete Cardiff for 4g it extends to reach Newport, who knows..and I'm not willing to wait and find out. Virgin IS coming on the 17th

EDIT,
That reminds me.......I need to ring 3 again, to make sure my contract ends.

So close but not close enough, Liverpool is still a 30min drive away from me. I'll probably be onto a new contract by the time it's rolled out everywhere. By then it'll be 5G in London anyway probably.
