4500 dollar budget gaming/fun pc Need tips and advice

Okay I would first like to point out that i do NOT want to hear you should get this or get that because its a lot cheaper and it will get the job done etc. I like what i have picked out and the performance range in general of each. Because i dont just want to get the job done i want to destroy it and have bragging rights along with TONS of future proofing for a couple years.

The help i need will be how to overclock etc with all of these parts. Im not NEW NEW to OC i know my way around i just dont have an understanding of what each thing i am tweaking is doing. Along with me kind of wanting to do custom water cooling for the cpu instead of what i have chosen. But dont understand where to get things cheap what is a good company and what exactly i need to get it all done. Including how many clamps and barbs and mounting brackets etc. And one more thing i would like to know if i should wait before i start ordering the parts. It will be about 2.5 months before i have every single part i have ordered. And i would like to satisfy my sweet tooth for good looking and smelling boxes with new electronics in them that look all nice and shiny in their anti static wrapping. So if anybody has any inside to new things on the x58 platform that i should wait for over the next two months or will all of the parts still be at the top of their game?. Okay so here are the parts...

core i7-970 (I might go with the 980x, is there ANY difference between it and the 990x? Or just a little bit higher of a stock clock speed. Do they both overclock the same?)

Asus GTX 590 (Green Theme)

Gigabyte G1 Sniper (Maybe want the assassin but see no need for it at the moment. They both will OC the same for my needs since i wont be using both 8 pin power connectors on the CPU correct?)

2x Crucial realssd c300 sata 6 64gb, (These will be easy to set up in a raid 0 correct?) fairly cheap 120 dollars a peace.

2tb WD caviar black (storage and game drive.)

2 cd rw drives.

Corsair h70 water cooling all in one. (Now this is where i kind of want to upgrade.. I watched your vid etc but cant find a cheap do it yourself watercooling solution i can use for just the cpu.. Thats not completly breaking the bank)

(3x4gb) Patriot viper extreme 1600 mhz ddr3 sticks 7-8-7 timings.

Corsair obsidian 800d

I will of course be making this build look flawless but i need some help with overclocking tips and tricks... Because i would like to understand it all more. I dont know much about the internal software etc.. But i have hardware mastered i know what im doing with that... Would you recommend the assassin over the sniper? I will maybe be running sli 590s but im not for sure yet, Sniper can handle that. and the sniper allows you to use all of the cable managment holes on the 800d...

I went with sidewinder for my watercooling. Frozencpu also sells gear, but it was more expensive. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of money on a custom set up.

Don't expect anything new in x58. It's at the end of its life as far as advancements go. Socket 2011 will be 1366's replacement.

I always try to stop people from buying a few parts at a time and letting them sit. By the time you are ready to build, better parts are out or the same parts are cheaper. That's up to you though.

If you don't go custom watercooling, look at the Noctua NH-D14 or Thermalright Silver Arrow instead of that H70 as they will perform better.

Ah yes i do see your point. I am alrdy buying items from frozencpu in the form of sleeved cable extensions to make things look better coming out. Along with green Cold Cathodes and green corsair led fans etc. Hmm i dont need a full custom system one that will perform good and keep temps low. I prefer the Low profile of the h70 and the eas of being able to take the fans off to clean rather then messing with an entire dust consuming heatsink Im not doing but maybe a 4.0oc on the 970 so im not pressing to its limits.

And im kind of debating on rather waiting for the 2011 or allowing 2011 to develop for a year after its release until slowly switching over from this build. Im sure that their will be some small bumps etc just as sandy bridge has produced. So i am leaning towards just going on with this build

Well you are pushing it very far. I doubt the h70 will be able to cope with the heat of the 970 at that clock at decent temperatures. Well maybe unless you don't mind having a hairdryer inside your PC, because those fans are terrible. I would honestly suggest you getting the D14, or going for a fully custom waterloop. I mean at the price you are spending on that system you might aswell get a proper cooling solution. Imho, all of the pre-sealed liquid cooling kits are really really bad. There is just not enough fluid and radiator space to cope with heat for over more than like 15-20 minutes.

Well i would at least like a CPU kit that is of course custom but has everything their for me. OR if someone could guide me in the right derection of parts i should get. Like a proper pump and res along with the right amount of fittings and clamps etc for the 970 and socket 1366. I dont need some big nasty setup all i would like is for something that can get me to 4ghz and have green coolant xD. So build list and links to all the items or maybe a kit that has everything i need. And my budget is around 200 dollars for a custom CPU setup if thats to little i can maybe push a little more but i wouldnt like to. I know this doesnt all = out to 4500 dollars but i didnt mention im opting for a 32inch led 120hz tv as a monitor g510, and mamba. Along with of course some other mich items. But as of now the airflow isnt that BIG of a deal. Im only running a single 590 and i will not be running that high of an oc with it. Im sure the extra fans i got will do just fine because to me the little bit of extra noise isnt that big of a deal.. I listen to music when i play.. drowns out the sound

I was under the impression that the 970 could handle 4.0 decently hmm.. Much to learn as i can see thank you for the tip.

It will more than likely do 4GHZ but the H70 will not be able to handle that very well. That was what I meant, because if you know what you are doing you are going to get it to 4GHz.

You may want to have a look at the XSPC Rasa 750 kit. They do different radiator sizes, but I would suggest you get atleast a 240mm rad. The RX version is thicker than the RS version and therefore better.

Haha well i will know what im doing once i get there xD,

But where can this kit be found at?

To be honest if somebody could just explain to me what fittins fit into what.. Because their are so me Prefixed words that i dont know and so many dimensions etc... That when i go to look at just a simple 360 rad that i dont know what to do from their. Its crazy if all of the sizes and what all of it stood for could be explained then it would be easy sailing but i can never for the life of me find somebody that can explain it all... All they do is talk about what they have picked out or the kit they have laying infront of them.. That doesnt do me any good unless i want to buy that kit... And im not going to just buy it because somebody else bought it maybe its not after all a good setup... But i need to of course understand it... Bleh.. Thanks for the help

You may want to take a look at the Beginners guide to watercooling TTL did some time back. Here.

Yea i watched this i guess i could watch again and see if i missed anything helpful, But again you dont learn much when its centered around that one product.. Since i would have to get that product and that product only when another could be a better solution for me.. But i will watch it thank you.

The way the parts fit together and the way you do it on other water cooling systems is pretty much the same, those vids just give you a basic understanding on how to do it. If you have a look at the Project Snow Drift Gadget Show live thread you can see it's a different setup but the way it's fitted is the same.

Did you mean CD-RW? I would have though at least DVD ReWriter if not Blu-Ray rewriter for that budget

Well for now yes i have a CDrw dvd reader whatever from lite-on. Two of them in fact just so i can be lasy and switch between two things. But a blu ray drive right now is not needed.. I might get one just so i can start to go down and rent them from bb or something idk.. haha

How much is that in america? Well how much is this?

http://www.specialte...stomer/cart.php

And will it get the job done?

And could i pay a little extra for a better Waterblock?

And i would like a nice matching green coolant for the kit what should i opt for?

Jesse

It wont show the shopping cart it's cookies based so it won't work by linking it you will have to take a screen shot and post it.

I couldn't tell you how much it would be in $ you will have to find a US based supplier because strait conversions don't work because of UK tax.

I don't really know if it would do the job for what you need it to or if adding a better water block would help i'm a WC n00b as well all that i know is what i have learned from Tom's vids and a few posts here and there.
