Hey guys,

Thought I might let you in on the main hobby of mine:

I'm still learning and have been flying for just under two years now. I try to practice everyday.

Here are some vids I took the other day (dad took with cam).

If you search 3D helicopter video on Youtube there are many more from the proper pros.

Hope you enjoy and any questions please post away, happy to answer them!

Thanks mate :). Well, they're very expensive and hard to fly so you kinda have to purchase one to start with or use a sim.

Some RC flight sims are pretty reaslistic, I train with the Phoenix RC sim.

Ah yeah I thought it would be very difficult! I guess you got lots of these then? Does family members also do the same?

Haha thanks :).

I have four helis currently, one is mainly a indoor heli though.

No, no family members do this, infact they're not interested at all, lol. I have a few mates who are into the hobby too.

bet that took time to learn. Have you had any bad crashes that ended up costing you a fortune to fix.

Nice man, I love how obscenely agile those things are.

I got a Q though, are the tricks performed by inputting "combos" on the controller? Seems like the choppa is moving too fast to actually do the flips and rolls in real time, if you get what I mean.

Haha, crashes, I try my best not to but yes it does happen, specially when learning.

Funnily enough here's a pic of todays aftermath!

My last crash about a month or two back:

It does cost a bit, I mean todays crash was about 40-50 quids worth, just doing a front flip too low to the ground, clipped the tail then it spun, hit throttle hold (cuts power) as soon as the tail hit. If I didn't do that we would be probs talking a lot of time and cash! :(

Almost finished repairing now, 5 hours or so so far!

Yes, everything is in real time. This is where the practice counts.

Here is a video including the transmitter movements of one of the worlds best pilots:

hey,

I have a honeybee king 2 (out of action atm....) but im practsing still with a crappy 4 channel thing i got off ebay (although this seems indestructible!) so you arent the only one with this brilliant hobby! :beerchug:

Jesus now thats talent!

wish i had the time to have a hobby like that, instead of being glue to my PC. Least i would get some fresh air.

Hmmm anyone wanna babysit three kids?

Wonder if i could sell them for medical research purposes??

hmm if i was going to take up photography it wouldn't be the outdoor shots I would be focussing for.

Mind our lass is no oil painting though. :p

Hahaha! Good luck with the bee Retrogamer!

Flying all day today. My charger power supply just packed up this morning :@. 50 quid for this pos!

Photography is a lovely thing to do with helis.

Most excellent flying skills there Technex. :) Have always fancied an RC plane/heli but cost and a total lack of ability to repair any damage have always stopped me. Don't think I can fit another expensive hobby in between my PC, guitars and climbing really.

Thanks! You pick up how to repair nice and slowly, the manual will always help out a load! I think planes are harder as you need to know how to work with wood (on most planes) and use your head a lot more in other ways than building/repairing helis. With helis you normally just open another part pack and fit it carefully, whereas you have to build it yourself with most planks (planes).

Here's a pic my best buddy took yesterday, got my nerves going. Cutting grass! :D

18 today too :D. More money saved for my next heli. Logo 500 3D V-Bar.
