2700X Horrendous Temps

Built a mate of mine a rig with a 2700X and for the moment he's using the Wraith Spire cooler that came with it, On stock settings at idle the CPU hovers around 50'c, Tried swapping out the paste for some Thermal Grizzly stuff, Reseating the cooler, Lowering volts and still the temps are 50'c at idle with nothing running in the background.


Is the stock cooler simply that bad ?

Already done, Can't figure it out, Volts are in check, Everything works just fine but the temps are really high.

Try the cpu in your rig and see if it reports the same. if it doesn't I would suspect the motherboard sensor may be a tad off

It could also be a board that reports with an offset

Nevermind, Apparently I'm blind, I didn't turn the lever all the way down on the cooler so it wasn't making proper contact......

It's ok it wasn't put under any meaningful load and only got up to 60'c, Well within the safe range.
