260gtx or 4870?

Hi all

I have a failing 9800GT following mobo issues & dont want to just straight replace as this seems a good opportunity to upgrade?

have read loads of forums etc & the 260gtx or ATI 4870 seem to be the best for my budget (£120ish although could stretch a bit if its worth it)

i have a 550w PSU & a p5Ql pro mobo E8400 CPU

so whats the thoughts in terms of graphics & are there any brands I should avoid (been reading bad things about xfx for e.g.)

I mainly play WoW so presume either of these cards will be ok?

Both of them will be more than sufficient for your gaming needs.... for Wow it doesnt really matter which 1, just get the 1 which is cheaper, although i do prefer the 4870 ( £105 1gb 4870 at overclockers atm for example)

you could also look at two 4850's in Crossfire, which will be around £150 and will giv u much betta performance

I think the 4870 will probably edge it here, but they are pretty comparable, if you want to do CUDA, get a 260GTX, I reckon the 4870 has the performance edge.

Ive gone for the 260gtx as I believe it will be a straight swap without having to mess about deleting drivers - plus seems a bit better on cooling
