2011 launches tonight, who's buying for some epic bench fun?

I've been benching the past 3-4 weeks but my chip sucks - caps at 5.20GHz. If you find one that does 5.5+ your in with a chance at breaking some WRs!

I will be as long as ya sent out my package

Remember you said ya was gonna send me a board and cpu

naw seriously I wish I had the $$$ to try it out but as I'm pretty happy with my i7 2600K and UD4 I cant see changing unless I had $$$ to burn

i was expecting both hexcores to be bit more than that tbh

if i had about £1K right now i will get the 3930K and watercool it but it seems i don't so i shall have to keep dreaming

sir strawbz will the main man be uploading that vid so its on the tube for midnight. cos i am willing to forgo my beautysleep to watch this +60min epic. flipping half chub territory

Just saw the review by Tom from YouTube. You should see Tom's expressions throughout the video. The 3960X is an amazing CPU.

Do you really see that much of a gain from 1366 benching though? Reading around its around 1.5% from what I can see, granted you need a nice 1366 chip but hey ho, time will tell.

I will start with a 3930K cpu and maybe get a 3960X if i have the money for it.

But i will still use LGA1155 socket for 2d benching and 3dmark01.

just worked out if i was to sell all my X58 stuff (CPU, board, ram and CPU cooler) i could buy a UD5 to stare at

I know that feeling. People have offered me £100 for my Rampage 3! Plus it would only end up in my own rig and not my bench rig. Better to spend my money on stuff I'm willing to kill

It is waste of money for me.No difference in gaming, only when someone rendering etc it is worth to buy.

will better stick with my 1366 and go for ivy bridge later on.

It's a lot of money for not a lot of performance gain from a bench perspective.

The problem with them is it's just SB again. It's not like you can keep on buying and selling these chips to find the right one that does 5.7+ ..it's too expensive to do that. Most people will just get one chance to get a decent chip and if like me you get this one and can't even do 5.2 under the cold, you've wasted a lot of money. Most will do 5-5.30GHz. Those lucky enough will get a 5.3+ one. Want some decent points? 5.4+ is what you need.

Whatever clock speed is lost on these chips, you can go X58+98/990X+LN2 and push up to 7G to make up for it. Granted these chips are killer for Vantage & 11, but unless you have LN2 and a decent 580, it's too much to burn for probably not a lot of boints. Best stick with searching for a 57+ 25/26/2600K and wait for Ivy.
