I finally got all my parts and built my new pc.

Tweeked arround and I was able to get a 1.4v 4.9 ghz stable : cinebench 14.07

and for my 24/7 I was able to get a 1.325v 4.5ghz : cinebench 13.06

and for the GPU

a stable 1.050v

core : 1048 mhz

shader : 2096 mhz

memory : 2248 mhz

Happy that I didn't do to bad with the silicon lottery.

I know I can push them further but doesn't matter im not a bencher but still nice to know i have a good cpu XD oh and yeah its a c2 version

Like the 4.9ghz oc at 1.4v

What ram and mobo are you using?

I have 4gb 2133mhz 9-11-9-27-1T dual installed.I also have a 16gb 1866mhz@2133 11-12-11-30-2T vengeance quad kit and there is little to none difference in cinebench 11.5.

Have to use1.49v at 4.9
rolleyes.gif
,but only 1.29v at 4.5ghz.

This is on a gigabyte x79-ud3.

I wanted the gigabyte x79-ud7 but it got discontinued so i got the asus rampage 4 formula i have 4x4gbs of kingston hyperx at 1600 (didnt want to pay like 500 for 2133 or 2400 ram)

yeah i didnt have much time testing my volts for 4.5ghz but i know 1.3 is unstable so i kinda skipped it to 1.325 to be sure but i can probably save a few mily volts if i try

Yeah, these 2133/2400mhz quadkit is really expensive.Could use a 2400mhz kit for benchmarks though

.

Even if i have proper watercooling on the cpu,at 1.49v@4.9ghz it hits 75c measured with realtemp.

Ouch, im only using an h100 (waiting on cougar vortex to be available here) and im also getting 75c at small ffts at 4.5 ghz but i see that increasing the voltage really does increase the temp quite a bit

I think I've got a bit of a dog

1.375v for 4.2GHz on a 3930k in an X79-UD5. Am a complete n00b with overclocking though.

Hottest I've seen any core go is 70c under -advanced method SMP folding. That's under an NH-D14.

Scores in Cinebench are around the 12 mark.

Not sure if my memory is holding me back, as I went cheap on it. It's 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu, but it's got different heatsinks to the stuff going in the competition rigs, and it takes 1.65v for 1600MHz 9-9-9-27.

Have tried hyperx blu on amd P2 1090T,CH4F and i had to use more voltage at same oc.

Interesting. Gonna keep an eye out for some 1866 Mushkin Blackline at a good price.

Just had a quick play, and after loading optimised defaults and leaving most things on auto, I'm in at 4.4GHz at 1.38v.

I've managed to boot at 5.2GHz, but couldn't get that anything like stable. I run at 1.375V and get 4.6GHz on 1600MHz corsair RAM. Hottest I've had was with intelburntest after 20 passes, at 72C on the hottest core, which isn't bad for a 240mm rad with the fans at 1200rpm.

naw man i have the exact same ram you have (only my heatsinks are grey, it matches my msi 560 ti hawk)

And well from the rest of the people here telling me there clock id say i got a great 3930k then XD

1.325 for 4.5ghz rock stable (i could possibly get a little less voltage and still work) and a 1.4v 4.9ghz benchmark stable (dosent mean itll work 24/7 but it works for benchmarks no problem)

I do have the new batch of the SB-E C2 that may have something to do with my results.

Oh and btw this was my very first oc, i used to have laptops or macs, but still worth it XD, i did learn how to proper oc with the help of OC3D and asus rog forums.

My bios has this screenshot function

Made a few of the 4.9ghz settings i use.Only a few tweaks and you have 4.9ghz oc.

Hope it`ll help anyone, its that easy.

One setting which I didn't see in those screenshots was the overcurrent protection for the CPU - maybe it's an Asus thing though. I had to set mine to 180% (around 200W), so that it didn't randomly throttle at high load. As it is, the CPU can happily pull 200W at full tilt.

Started again, and I've managed to get 4.2 on much lower volts (1.32, might go lower), but no matter what the volts I seem to get BSODs at 4.3 or above about 30-35 seconds into OCCT Linpack. My suspicions still lie with the memory.

Bladehawk, is your RAM the stuff with the rows of holes at the top, or with the silver raised strip?

Might do a windows re-install over the weekend, see if that gets me anywhere.

Sorry i havent been on the forums lately, lots of work to do.

my ram is http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16820104239 @ 9-9-9-27 -> 1600 (didn't even try to oc it as i don't actually need it...)

Went i went home for easter i had the pleasure of one of my cousins children to pushing the light up button on the back of my cpu (you know the one) and i had to redo my OC but it left my ram at an unstable 9-9-9-24 witch did the same as you crash and i thought it was my voltage on my cpu but anyways its all good now.

update: i decided to try the NF-F12s finally and OMFW its epic, i dont care if it comes in pink with hearts and unicorns it dropped my temps by 10c on my h100 compared to when i had 2 cougar vortexes on.

Current cpu settings 100mhz X 44 @ 1.31v, im getting after 10 runs of very high stress(4gb) IBT 64 on 4 cores and 67-70 on 2 other and thats at 26c ambient most games (even witcher2/sc2/skyrim) cant make it go above 55c @ 25-26c ambiant.

Get them nf-f12s there gods amongst fans.

Cheers,

Blade

PS: i need an air conditionner
