Hey peeps I'm currently running a 144hz monitor but it's dying a slow death and am looking at a 34" ultrawide but it's 100hz has anyone had experience in this department and did you notice a big difference or was it not a thing that bothered you?
I'm really keen to hear peeps thought and opinions on this, and thanks in advance for your replies :)

I would guess it depends on the games you play. I rarely hit more than 90fps in AAA games with the right settings. In that situation the extra 44 frames isn't gonna make much difference.

If however you play a lot of CS Source etc. then maybe you would

If you're going for an Ultrawide I'd wait a month or so if possible as MSI have a 144Hz VA Ultrawide, 3440x1440, Coming out very soon for $899.

Thanks WillSK and yeah Dicey I've seen that my mate at MSI told me next month BUT that's US dollars dude so but the time they slap on the Aussie tax on tax that'll make it 1400-1500 which just isn't worth it for 20-44hz depending on monitor!
I can get this one for $789 MSI Optix MAG341CQ UWQHD 100Hz Curved 34in Monitor plus 28 bucks for shipping.

Yeah when I've compared 100Hz to 120Hz I've found it hard to tell those apart. You get a huge jump going from even 60Hz to 90Hz, but each jump up gets far harder to notice. I used to run my CRT monitor at 180Hz sometimes but generally the benefits weren't there over 120Hz to be worth trying to squeeze all that performance out with reduced settings, and even then most of the time I'd settle for 85Hz(The minimum refresh rate of the monitor without blacking) as the higher resolutions were preferable.

I’ve asked this question to many people over the years, even to pro players that used to be part of the same gaming community as I was. Basically all of them said no. From 60-100/120/144Hz is noticeable, without a doubt. But when going in such a small increase, when you’re already running a high refresh rate, you simply don’t notice it.

Sure, in CS and to really top tier pro gramers, such as NiP maybe... But to the average gamer and in most games, no. Even when I went from 144Hz to 165Hz, I didn’t notice it.

On paper and spec wise, it looks good. But I’m generally more interested in the game to even notice, IF there’s even a difference. Which by then is next to none really.

Maybe you could try forcing your current monitor down to 100Hz and seeing how you feel? Should be some options under display adaptor settings to change refresh rate down.

I think you'd probably notice it a bit at first but not for long and I don't think it would feel chuggy, choppy or harm your game, and that's probably not enough to warrant spending twice the amount if that's your only other choice, in terms of frame time it's one frame every 7ms (144Hz) vs every 10ms (100Hz) so that 3ms difference(Out of a humans ~250ms reaction time to complex stimuli) is pretty meaningless as far as the competitive element goes.

Yeah that's a good idea only problem is the Gsync module S#$T itself so I can't

To just answer your question in basic terms. Yes I notice a different.

But its not always clear cut, some games will see your fps dive to the 60s and so on.
If we are talking about low fidelity games like CS GO to see consistency, you will see and feel a difference for sure. I really miss the days of 144hz. I currently have a 100hz monitor, but its not the native resolution. Its a 60hz overclocked, and boy do I hate it.

In all honesty I wouldn't worry about 144Hz, Your eyes will get used to 100Hz after a few hours, I'd rather have a good IPS panel with good colours at 100Hz than a VA panel at 144Hz.
