Thought I'd pick someones brains, I'm in the need for a new games and backup drive and can't decied between a Crucial MX500 1TB or the WD black 2TB for the same price actually the WD is a touch more but double the capacity both have the same 5 year warranty and I've heard that in reality there isn't much difference in game load times between them so what would you go for?
Thanks in advance peeps :)

There is a significant difference. I recently bought MX500 to move my games from WD Black. It is night and day. I would go with SSD all the way. If it is media and backup spinning rust is fine, but even WoW runs much, much smoother on SSD.

Thanks everyone will get the SSD!
And sorry my bad I should have said 7200rpm Black but was tired and in pain and forgot

Bit late to the party but SSD all the way. I have three PCs in action and two are SSD only. The one with the drives in drives (pardon the pun) me crackers. Even the 5200 RPM ones omit this low hum that makes me think the rig is about to take off.

Thankfully that rig has an air cooled GPU so that usually ends up even more irritating. But yeah my other two are not (AIO cooled in one and full water the other) and that was exactly why I did not fit a single mechanical drive.

I give spinning drives 3 years. I really think that is all they have left. Even the 2.5 are simply too big these days with laptops getting smaller by the minute.
