New rig: White Light

Hi guys and gals, I have never posted a lot on the forums, I have however read a lot and enjoyed. Given that I have enjoyed so much of the content here I thought it's about time I stopped being a lurker and chipped in, so here goes.

History of it, in case anyone is interested

So I have been running the same main rig since 2009, I was flush at the time and got myself a rampage III Extreme, an i7 950, a couple of 5850's and some other gubbins you don't want to know about.

Eventually it upgraded itself (as prigs tend to) to a watercooled system. My first, messy, n00bish journey into the waterworld...not the Kevin Costner one mind you, that film was pants .

I Had it chuggin' along merrily at 4.5ghz, at a voltage I cant remember its been so long since I overclocked it. What I do remember is that X58 was a lot of fun to mess with.

All things change and I hated the waterloop, eventually. It was big and had lots of hose all over - pics are in my albums somewhere. I wanted a change

Soooooo over the last 12 months I did some planning and saving, I wanted an all white with red coolant build, as you can see I failed lol. I made my plans with the newish Sabretooth Mark S as the centre of it all, but I had a money calamity and had to go for a cheaper option. To make it worse I have had experience with Noctca NF-F12 fans and been able to break them down to paint/dye for friends, I just thought that P12's would be the same, turns out they are not and I can't get those damn blades off without breaking them so that scuppered the white and red.....best laid plans and all that .

I made this instead, with what I could, It's not quite finished, I need to mod the handle back into the roof and do something about the bits of brown that show and really get off my behind and learn how to sleeve cables and make any fan/mboard header cables white instead of black.

Now I bought this case before I saw the full Orca build that the Guvner did, and although I had plans of a similar ilk, what he did with the front rads looked better than what I was going to do, so I shamelessly ripped that off, a good idea shouldn't go to waste after all lol

Whoops, nearly forgot

The Gubbins

Case - CM Storm Stryker
Motherboard - Asus Maximus VII hero
CPU - 4790k ([email protected])
RAM - 16GB 2133 Vengeance Red Kit (@2133)
HDD - Sandisk Extreme Pro 240Gb x3
GPU - 290x Lightning (1220/1650)
PSU BUILT WITH - Enermax Revolution 85+ 1250W (fan was making a horrendous noise RMA)
PSU CURRENTLY IN THERE - Corsair RM1000 (excellent, always passive even at load)

PUMP - EK pwm D5
RES - EK-D5 x-res top 140
CPU - EK supreme red
GPU - EK 290x block & Backplate
MBOARD - EK Mosfet block
RADS - Alphacool NexXxos Monsta white 360 in the front & Alphacool NexXxos UT-60 white 360 in the roof
FANS - Noctua NF-F12 x9

Just noticed this is almost all EK lol, normally I'm an Aquacomputer or Koolance kinda guy - go figure .

Have I missed anything I hope not.

PS: - this is my first time posting pics so I hope I do it right lol, also these pics are from a phone so are probably sucky.

Peace.

Thanks, I was taken with the case when I saw it online. Im a bit dissapointed that I couldn't get the board I had my hopes set on and run with the red and white theme. Bit put out that after i went white black and red that the enermax psu has had to be pulled out, it looked right in there being black with red highlights.

This new PSU is cool, it's semi passive and even with all the overclocks the fan has not spun up once yet that makes the rig from more than a foot away totally silent Noise makes me agitated lol

Oh yes! Fan noise and overclocking it's a delicate balance, I just can't tolerate a noisy rig especially as mine sits just over 40cm from my head and it's just a gentle hum I can live with that, and when gaming it's headset time The thing that astonishes me with the stryker, especially yours is just how much room there is inside even with that monsta rad in there it still looks empty.

It's a huge case my last big rig was in an 800D which looked really cramped and tight even though the sodding thing was like a truck. Not so much height wise as it swallowed 3 cards quite happily, but looking in from the side, the front to back stretch just looked to have less space than it should.

The stryker, conversely, feels big enough that I could climb in lol

Even with a 60mm deep rad in the roof it still feels huge
