An email conversation with a friend.

Him - Let my son have a quick go on the headset. The beginning part of HL Alyx – you know, before anything at all happens. He got as far as the 2nd balcony where the robot climbs up the wall and pulled the headset off. Sooo proud! *rolleyes*

I replied.

Haha did he s**t himself?

It’s quite scary tbh.

To which he replied.

Yeah. He claims “it’s not funny!”…..he’s wrong! :-D
Can’t let him play that much more anyway. The first zombie on the railway – yeah, the dead one – would mean I got no sleep all night!

LMAO. A great way of keeping your kids off the new VR :D

My son played Alyx twice, doesn't scare him he's 11, he does like the VR I'm waiting for Resident Evil in VR see how he does in that

I was the same as a kid. Even a balloon popping and I would freak out. I never saw a horror movie until I was about 20. And it was Candyman, and I didn't sleep for about three days.

Talk about picking an "easy" one to watch.

I don't know where I stand at this "fright" scale. Any game, any VR, I shrug it off. But if something I've worked for is at stake and I'm unsure how to deal with the threat? My heart is pumping in Skyrim's dungeons if I find myself vulnerable.

In real life I am ing terrified of responsibility unless I'm fully certain that what I am responsible for I can fix. Outside of that it's difficult phase me. It's like this limbo where I don't care what happens to me, whatever, but if people depend on me and I don't know the best course of action, I lose my sh*t.
