Graphics Card Conundrum

Hey, all, looking for some opinions.

Let's say I stay with my P5E (with a 2GB 6950) that will Xfire but not SLI, for a little while (see how the new platforms on the horizon shape up). Right now I'm running 2 24" 1920x1200 monitors (only game on 1)and while the Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround look cool, not sure how ready for primetime they are and how much I'll use it (and yes, I am aware that the Nvidia solution would require 2 cards). In terms of graphics cards which would you do:

1) Buy another HD6950 and Xfire them and most likely carry them to the new board?

2) Scrap the Xfire plans and pick up either a GTX570 or GTX580 for future plans to SLI on another board?

3) Something different?

It seems a bit uncertain to me on the longevity of the cards. I'm hoping some people more "in the know" would have some better informed suggestions.

Thanks alot, all. Sometimes I make what should be fun into continuous mental massaging.

The 6950 on it's own is a very good card, and I've heard that AMD crossfire cards scale very well, so it would be better (I think) to get another 6950 and Xfire them babies

.

You can compare them by going HERE.

If you look at the chart you can see that the 6950 CF is not too far behind the 580 Sli at the resolution you are currently playing at.

I am running 6950s in Xfire and I will say you won't be disappointed in the results. Have not yet found a game they will not chew up and spit out at the highest settings.

Thanks for the advice, all. Got myself an MSI Twin Frozr III 6950 to put in this weekend. Hopefully good things will happen!
