It's my temporary air rig, and it seemed like a good idea to stick it up while it lasts. It's doing the job quite nicely, but I miss the Extreme Cooling

Are they any good at cooling? there was a lot of hype surrounding them when specs and pics were 1st released......it was stated that they were as good as watercooling.

It's all in bits and is messy, as it's being slowly pulled apart to make way for my new rig...

They aren't that quiet - being a Zalman I thought it would be silent, but it's far from it. Hmmm, it's not as good as real water cooling, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's performing as well as the lower end water kits. It allows for some very good overclcoks. eg: 2.8 @ 3.6 on quiet air

In a few minutes I'm gonna stick my 3.4 Presscott in and see what happens - I've got some DVD encoding that needs speeding up

Pretty good aircoolers from what i read, the watercooling stuff is just marketing BS, nice original design, you can get the same performance for a bit cheaper but it is pretty sweet cooler.

They arent at all quiet in comparison to a Thermalright with a decent 120mm fan - but they are incredibly impressive that said - the ones I use here for the Sptifire builds offer excellent temps, idle was about 34 degrees (3800 X2 @ 205FSB) and 45-50ish under load. I'd say these are the new king of air coolers - but not if you want totally silent. Dont get me wrong its not an annoying noise, but it is noticeable.

I agree, the fan doesn't whine - I think its just the air that it's shifting that is causing the sound. I was thinking of mounting two 120mm fans to it, one on each side. But instead I'm going to go watercooling again

ooop, it doesn't like the over clocked Prescott very much, at all...

During long encoding the system would just turn off. I think its the CPU getting too hot

Not to worry, water cooling, Dothan and peltiers soon

It's a SilenX one. It's the latest model, and I'm personally quite impressed with them. (Even though their ratings are very suspicious!)

Anyhow, as it happens I'm going to do a proper review on every half decent fan available. I've managed to weasle the scientific equipment required. Will start a thread later in the week...
