Z87 Gene vs Gryphon

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to downsize my current rig to a mATX form factor (Obsidian 350D). Like the title says I'm trying to choose between the Gryphon or Maximus VI Gene motherboards. I'll be putting a 4770K in it and I'm getting a H100i so I will be able to do some fairly decent overclocking. Which is the best of the two overall? Thanks in advance!

All personal choice. I can bet both motherboards will get you the same overclock with damn near the same amount of volts.

This.

Although since the ROG is a gaming oriented motherboard, it comes with a different audio chip. Nothing compared to a proper sound card though, so you might as well base your decision on the colour scheme (there is an armour kit available for the Gryphon).

I'm usually too busy looking at the monitor (wondering where I just got shot from) to worry too much what my PC looks like from every possible angle.

I'm also busy wondering where I'm being shot from, but c'mon, when you build it you might as well make it look nice, it is no extra effort IMO ^_^

Thanks for all the replies guys! I'm planning to buy a sound card later on when they support Win 8.1. Most of them don't right now. I'll try to pick up the Gryphon with the armor kit! Thanks for the help!

Hey again guys, I just found the Gigabyte Sniper M5, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128604

How does that stack up against the Gryphon/Gene?

It is hard decision, because i´am building same build and can´t decide DO i want red build or white/black/grey and the problem is that too, my ax860 is RED :O. But yeah i need to choose something...

I ended up with the Maximus VI Gene and I don't regret a thing about it. Since your power supply already has red on it, the Maximus would go great with it! Very easy overclocking and comes with a nice bundle of software.
